@Kandy, my uncles pension is now all sorted out, he's carrying on at work for another year full time as well as claiming his pension, then he says he's going to stay on part time for another year or so, I'm not 100% sure he's doing it for the money I think he likes his job & his collegues, he has never married or had children so I guess he enjoys being part of a close knit team. He's a thunder storm enthusiast his dream is to go storm chasing in America...bless him, I hope he does go because he would really enjoy himself. (Sorry I went a bit off topic :heehee:)

Yes, I don't do vigorous jaw movements. I also have to admit that sometimes I swallow my gum too. Someone tried to tell me that it would never go through my system but would start just lumping up in my stomach because it can't be broken down - well, I asked them if they ever ate corn and did it completely break down? :heehee:

Suffice to say, just as we were about to get back on our feet a bit, our credit card company have put the boot in. Apparently being a customer for over a decade counts for naff all nowadays; well, sod them - as soon as it is paid off they can poke their cards where the sun doesn't shine.

Can you transfer your credit card balance in to another card, maybe one offering 0% interest?

I feel your pain, I Had a massive argue ment with A bank last month, we have a business credit card each (we don't use them, we use our business debit cards, the credit cards are for large purchases to provide back up & emergency use only) anyway to cut a long story short we have never ever used the cards but the bank decided to send me a bill for an account fee of £64 just because they can :gaah:, I rang them up & told them exactly what I thought about the charge & said if they didn't remove the charge I would be removing my business bank accounts & personal accounts to another bank who wouldn't be so greedy! I got the normal 'oh Mrs 'L' we are so sorry about this but there's nothing we can do I shall have to transfer you to another department' after another firm word they removed the charge, appologised & said 'if you ring us up again next year we will remove the charge again as we can see you don't use the card!' SO basically they just take the p*** don't they? How many people just pay & don't question the charges I wonder? & how much blinking money do they take off people?? FC I think you need to get back on the phone & give them some grief, just don't let them get away with putting the boot in :paladin:

Not either of the Shineys :heehee:. We both have different ways of handling the situation. Mrs Shiney tears them a new hole whilst I'm all sweetness and light :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I tend to keep very calm and put on my posh voice and don't use words less than four syllables  This gets them quite confused because they don't like admitting that they can't understand what I'm saying - particularly when I make it quite clear that they shouldn't be dealing with customers if they can't understand English properly. That usually gets me put straight through to the head of department. I'm always very sympathetic that they are not able to understand the language properly but are compelled to be in a position where they have to speak to people all day. By then Mrs Shiney is almost rolling on the floor in laughter. :snork:

Banks are greedy. But gardeners own pitchforks - so banks are also stupid to be messing with us... :heehee:

Seriously though, lots of credit card companies love to have balances transferred and usually offer initial incentives to get your business. I agree with @Beckie76 , please try giving that a shot. :)

This particular card was the one that bailed us out of the smelly brown stuff over two house moves, and ended up at its limit; then, when we moved home they put the APR up from a quite reasonable 12.9% to 34.9% overnight. February, I was short paid to the tune of around £1400(ish) and have been fighting to get it ever since - - that is now being paid in two weeks time. We've been paying the card, but since February we have been a few days late each month and they have been putting charges on (we can't argue, because we were late, albeit only by a few days). Now, they have completely withdrawn our credit facility (not that we really need or want it), credit ratings have suffered, and this precludes us from any transfer deals at the moment as nobody will touch you if you have a credit card balance owing and the current provider has blocked the account.

We will just have to sit with it for a while, get the balance down and then try later for a balance transfer deal. Damned annoying though. The best of it is, we have just paid the final payment on a loan, so as of next month we will be paying almost double their required minimum payment and those payments will return to the way they have always been (early). :gaah:

It's taking them four MONTHS to rectify this? :hate-shocked: OutRAGEous!! I'd be playing merry hell with the finance department and billing them for all the charges incurred/knock on affect due to THEIR incompetence :mute: :mute: :mute: :paladin: :mute: :mute: :mute:

I played them at their own game in the end - the answer we kept getting was that is was a bonus payment and therefore 'discretionary' and could be removed at any time. There are a number of tasks that I take care of for our entire company even though it is not actually my responsibility to do so - so, these tasks are 'discretionary'; funny how the focus can be sharpened up when those discretionary tasks don't get done......
