I would consider myself to be quite an 'inclusive' sort of person - almost without exception, I don't really give a stuff what shape, size, colour, sex, religion, sexuality etc anyone is - people are people, end of.

However, I have read this article this afternoon and for me it is a bridge too far, especially the part about not using words to denote which loo is which - if the trans person identifies themselves as a woman then they should use the ladies, conversely if they identify as a man, they should use the gents. If this is the way the world is going, then why not do away with urinals and have only cubicles where the individual is guaranteed privacy regardless of their gender, identified or otherwise?

I have given up trying to understand, or care about matters of political correctness beyond the basic anti sexist and racist bits which are easy to follow.

But that's ok, because it occurs to me that the pc brigade have to accept and even embrace my lack of understanding, because it is scientifically proven that our ability to learn diminishes with age, and as I'm over the hill as far as learning is concerned, anyone who has a go at me for not understanding that there are now about 50 different genders, is actually not being pc because they are being ageist.

00000000000000000000000000015810I've just seen a report on BBC about a similar story in the USA.

In this case it is about transgender school children using toilets and showers in their school. ( IE that is transgender boys using girls toilets and showers and vice versa ).

Obama wants to bring in a law which allows this to happen and several states are bringing in law suits against the Government.

Now I agree with FC a person is a person whatever their shape/size/colour/religion/sexual orientation and so on, but........

some of these kids are 10 YES THAT'S TEN years old.

I don't know how to put this except for being blunt..... I don't believe any child of that age knows their sexuality and I don't think they should be encouraged by their parents to dress and behave as a member of the opposite sex to what they are.

I'm sorry if anyone is upset by me posting this but I feel that 10 is just too young and there should be an age limit of something like 16 or 18.

So to finish, I hope the States concerned are successful in suing the US Government and then they might scrap this stupid piece of legislation.

Why do people just automatically swallow all this PC bull? If more people grew a pair and told them to *******! then we wouldnt be bombarded with all this crap on a daily basis.

            Hi Wee Tam,

That's why I'm on the side of the Stare Schools Governing Bodys and the Parents who are bringing action.

            ( Even if @Zigs isn't ..... for whichever reason, he won't reply ).

Would that lead to more, or less, transgender people? ;)

The news story that @fat controller linked to is indeed ridiculous, why on earth would you sue over something so frivolous? Using the disabled loo makes sense because it's unisex.

I personally think that if you are transgender then you should be allowed to use whichever toilet you want after all its not like these places are rows of squat toilets with no privacy...

In the case of US schools why not just designate half the toilets unisex? After all if they can cope in Europe with unisex toilets why can't Americans?

As for the argument that it will lead to rape or molestation I find this argument nonsensical, if you have the inclination to commit a crime of that nature having a sign that says ladies hanging over the door is not going to stop you!

And @Anthony Rogers I don't like to disagree with you but I feel as people get older they seem to forget quite how much they did realise or work out as a young child I have very vivid memories of playing in primary school with other boys, one in particular who I do not remember the name of (so 7 or 8 years old) and having "feelings' which at the time I could have never put into words because I wouldn't of even understood the words, looking back I can say that this was the beginnings of me realising that girls just didn't hold an interest for me so It does not come as any great shock that a child of that age could be showing signs of not assigning to there biological gender.

I don't care what a person's orientation is however I worry that child porn perverts might try to use these free "passes"to access young children.

It is a complex issue. Here we have single washrooms which are available to either sex and then also multi-cubicle ladies loos, and multi cubicle/urinals in the men's room. That single non gender room should solve the issue when we think of the % of population who identify with a gender other than their physical birth assignment. Surely there would not be long line ups to use them? I've never seen anyone waiting outside one.

That said, I really wish I could pea standing up, without having to change my knickers :heehee:

isn't this conversation a bit too forward being that gardening is the topic of the forum?

It's in the "Off Topic Discussion" section of the forums so it doesn't need to be gardening related.
