Thank you Hannah & @shiney for hosting another brilliant open day at Shineyland :hapydancsmil:. I had a fantastic time, it was lovely to meet everyone, have a natter & walk around Shineyland. The garden is beautiful a real credit to Hannah & Shiney :dbgrtmb:

I made Shiney an offer but he was too tired , he honestly worked like dog all day, there was hardly a moment when he wasn't helping someone, bringing plants to the stall, digging up plants etc etc,all that with a bad back....our Shiney is a legend. :dbgrtmb:

The sandwiches &cakes were delicious....I think I will stay away from the scales for a couple of days :snorky:!

The meal in the evening was delicious, great company, more chatting & plenty of giggling. :heehee:

Kev had lent me his Sat Nav, that decided to die on me :thud:, I rang Kev & he said just programme your phone & of course I got back easily, I was back home in about an hour the hens woke me at 5.20 but I was soon back to bed & didn't wake up until 8.30:heehee:.

Thanks to all the members who came & of course Tess :doggieshmooze: :wub2:, it was lovely to see you all, :grphg:

ARMANDII and Jenny have already been in to say their goodbyes :blue thumb:

I'm off out into the garden to get all the chairs sorted out (it's a job I can do without bending) :)

I've had five phone calls this morning from people asking for directions - one of them from Manchester!!! :hate-shocked:

It was very busy so I didn't have time to take much in the way of photos. I'm sure everyone that came was able to take more appropriate ones.

This was just a part of the area where everyone watched the entertainment.

Picnics at the bottom of our garden (I think the fairies had gone on holiday :heehee:).
                P1280484.JPG

And the parking stretched a mile down the road.

                The poem. :dbgrtmb:

The Evil Weevil (otiorhynchus sulcatus – the vine weevil)

I saw an evil weevil that was eating up my plants.
I watched that evil weevil as it did a little dance.
I went to swat the creature but it raised its scaly head
and eying me with sorrow said, “I’d rather not be dead.

For after all what can I do? I’m just a common pest
and chewing up the leaves of plants is what I do the best.
To strawberries that are in pots I really am no stranger
but best of all in garden plants I like the pink hydrangea.

If you must kill then go and hunt my hundred little grubs.
They probably are munching on the root base of your shrubs.
I know you think I am the most imperfect of all mothers
but if you get my hundred, well you know, there’s lots of others.

My lovely little larvae, so soft and plump and white,
will bore into your tubers in the middle of the night.
Their pale brown heads will dig in deep, then dig in deep again
to ruin the begonias and that pretty cyclamen.

Now you should realise you know, this is the way for us.
I really do not understand you making such a fuss.”
I answered the vine weevil, “I know you might think that
but I don’t think the way you do,” and squashed the creature flat.

hi beckie it was nice to meet you and i so hope to see you again some other time. Luckily you could find your way back. My navigator also gave up luckily in whalebone lane north which is familiar ground. but all in all it was an easy journey - take care!

Big thank you to both Michael and Hannah and all the volunteers, fantastic day :spinning::spinning::spinning:

Lovely to see the familiar faces and meet some new ones, even if I did recognise them straight away  (Rodders :snork:)

Popped back this morning but it was all quiet so didn't make a noise in case anyone was still asleep :snooze:

Cheese sandwich came in handy as I was on the M25 car park for nearly 2 hours

Gardens looked better than ever, and it was lovely to see so many visitors :phew:

Well done everyone for making it a better event than Chelsea

Oh, and guess who's camera packed up the night before

I didn't see you. :noidea: I was working out in the garden at 6.30 and popped back in later for a rest and a cuppa and then a shower. :)

ARMANDII and Jenny popped in about 10 a.m.

It was another busy day :phew: and we were knackered by 5 p.m. Then it took a couple of hours stacking chairs away, and some of the tables, and then returning nine tables to the village hall. Books that were left over are now in the loft until next year. Tables washed, 100 mugs washed, urns drained and ready for transporting, protective flooring lifted, lots of other things done but haven't had time to count the moolah yet. I think it's a winner.

                      More tomorrow. :)

Bother, you might have been down the bottom of the garden then

I put the Aquilegias in Hannah's stash next to the garden house, hope they help

                          Yes, we found them. :)

Someone told me on Sunday that our MP had tweeted, on Saturday night, a picture of myself and Mrs Shiney, with him  :heehee:. He's, actually, one of the few good constituency MP's. :blue thumb:

I hope to see some good photos from some of you. :snorky:

Still counting the money :phew: It takes a long time to count a few thousand pounds in small change!! :rolleyespink:

                            Good morning,

Overcast & raining here, I'm off to work shortly so I'm quite pleased it's raining!

@moyra you are very much in my thoughts :grphg:

@shiney I hope you & Hannah will have a rest today

I still have some Shineyland plants to put in the garden :dbgrtmb: I hope to get those in the garden later

We moved the hens off the veggie patch yesterday, Mr Rat-a-tat-tat had been camping under the wood we had put down to stop the hens getting dirty feet over the winter, the hens coop is now on the patio, the traps are still in the greenhouse, if I ever catch this rat I will have a party! :heehee:

                            Enjoy your day everyone :grphg:
