Hi Michael, you'd be surprised. The last time I grew them from seed they ended up being 3' high and wide.
Don't forget that a Dahlias natural flowering time is September onwards so they've still got around 3 months of growing time yet.

One from seed didn't flower for me last year, I kept the tuber for this year to see what it's like. In my experience from seed last year, they do take longer to flower compared to bought tubers

Good morning @Linz my friend I have repotted the 6 damaged ones and put them back in the greenhouse the other 6 I have replanted in large terracotta pots with a wire guard surround:smile:

@Linz poison pellets are the most used and most abused form of slug control, with British gardeners using over 400 billion of them every year, surprisingly, they’re not that effective, only killing around 10% of the slugs in the average garden. However, they do pose a very real danger to the local wildlife, many of whom are natural slug predators. And being of a similar composition to dried cat and dog food, it’s no surprise that so many of our pets end up at the down at the vets with slug pellet poisoning and I have Tiny and Penny to think of.;)

This year I have got a lot of Cockle shells which are sharp when p;aced the right way up they are not dear to buy in a large bag and can be used year after year

I will plant my Cactus Dahlia collection out on the BH Weekend . 12 out of 13 have sprouted so I am quite happy with that . Although the one that didn't sprout was typically my favourite D. Orfeo :gaah: I have noted all the full grown heights ,from 80cm to 130cm , so on planting it's big uns at the back and little uns at the front ! As they grow make sure they are well staked plus plenty slug protection.

Hey Woo, they should recover nicely in there out of the way but like charliebot said they can dry out in pots a hell of a lot quicker so I'd keep an eye on them  Totally respect your opinion of pellets, some use them, some don't. I only use it around my pots, once the plants have taken off I leave them too it, we have around 14 cats and a few wandering dogs in the street, I try to keep nasty stuff to a minimum ..so I really like the idea of shells, would look nice and keep weeds down too :blue thumb:

                    Ooh lovely!

Most of mine are planted out now, although have a few at home I'm just growing on a bit before putting into big pots.

All the others went out yesterday down the allotment:

So sad to see Woo, I have 2 in pots and saw a post about standing them on upturned old hanging baskets, the slugs have trouble climbing the wire, I am quietly pleased with it, a little damage to the leaves, which could have been old damage.

sorry to see the damage Woo. The same happened to me and the hydrangea. I know it was slugs because I woke up early in the morning and I saw two just around it.

Oh woo get out there and stomp on those little slime bags! Such a shame, I haven't had probs with slugs on my dahlias this year but I did put pellets down when I put them out.. maybe worth ringing the compost makers?

Woke up to this one today, snowflake.
