@clueless1 I think we have all been neglected by successive UK governments, you aint seen the potholes in the roads down here.
There are just too many people and not enough money coming in.

Bringing more people in just compounds the problem, it will never solve it.
Especially migrant workers from the EU who send money back home or just work here for part of the year.

Immigrants that intend staying, do at least add something, and they often come from outside the EU.
You will never sort out the EU from within, to say that is like King Canute trying to hold back the tide.
Just look at the miserly, miserable concessions DC managed to get with the threat of exit, can you imagine what we will get if we vote to stay in?

Think that will just be the start of more and more legislation from the EU.

At least successive governments acknowledge your existence. We literally don't exist in the minds of Westminster politicians. The so called northern powerhouse is going to be in that newly discovered remote almost alien outpost called leeds. Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle haven't even been discovered yet.

What's really troubling me is the way certain Politicians are ignoring what they previously said and are now saying the opposite.......well, okay, there's nothing new there:dunno::doh: But, also the fact that the Leader of our Government went into negotiations with the EU machine promising great change and less interference from the EU. What happened?, he returned waving pieces of paper declaring he had made great improvements and concessions from the EU. Within days it became exceeding clear that that was basically nowhere near the case or the truth and the image of

        upload_2016-6-15_21-38-31.jpeg

came to mind. But I think the vital difference between Chamberlain and Cameron is that Neville honestly believed that he had got something, and David didn't but kept telling the country he had. So we all know now that nothing has changed within the EU, our influence is still nil, the Schengen Treaty became, because of the present flood of people fleeing the Syrian War, as strong as wet tissue paper and has fallen apart highlighting that the unity of the 28 EU countries is only as strong as each country wants it to be day by day.
There is still great inequality among the original EU members despite initially beginning, in embryo form, in 1951 with Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece etc never gaining equality and being the first to suffer during the global recession and are, in fact, still on their financial knees in many respects.
The Euro was supposed to unify all the members, who acknowledged it as their official currency and, ideally, be of equal monetary value whatever the country. That's not exactly how it has worked out and in fact the power of the EU seems to be that the EU is holding all the debt markers and has threatened the debtor countries with financial ruin unless they weaken their own political and natioanl independence.
The main thing that is driving me to vote OUT is the EU's self proclaimed agenda of Federalism and it's increasing torrent of legislation that is slowly but surely entangling the UK causing it to lose it's sovereign legislative powers, nation independence.
I do not want our children and future generations to be ruled by an organisation where the decision makers have not been voted into power and who will subtly and steadily gain total political and economic power over the members of the Federation. So I have to ask myself, is it a good idea to let a political organisation, not of this country or any other European country, to take over our national political, economic, security, and future of the UK's future generations?............judging on the past, and recent, economic and political shenanigans of the EU and the treatment it has dealt out to those EU members in political and financial chaos.........I think not.:dunno::coffee::snorky:

Me neither. So perhaps we need to fix our broken system at home that gives the SNP 51 times as much influence as UKIP despite winning considerably fewer votes. Or that gives total control of the UK to a party that only 30%of voters voted for.

The eu has many faults. Which is why I was until today convinced I'd vote out. But do I think leaving will improve my life and the lives of my children? No. Even if the UK did save 350M per week, that would just vanish. Any exit deal would be negotiated by Cameron and co, and would be the eu in all but name.

I also have to think about the lives of ordinary folk elsewhere in the union. I was going to vote out because I didn't like how the eu was treating genuine refugees. But if we break the eu, how will that affect the ordinary folk?

Now how many times is it that you have changed your mind!!!??:heehee:

Well, I'm absolutely sure that the East European "ordinary folk" are thinking about the lives of us..........which is probably why they want to move here:dunno::snorky:

Actually, it is unlikely that Cameron would be able to negotiate the exit of the EU as he is now more likely to ousted from power if the Referendum is OUT. :dunno:

:doh:It's more than about the piddling sum of an estimated £350 million!!! It's also about whether or not you want your children to grow up in an independent, free trading, secure country or part of a Federation where the UK would have no say but would have to be subservient to a non democratic organisation having absolute powers with, possibly, two other European countries influencing it behind the scenes. If the latter is what you want for your children then Gawd Bless You!!:heehee:

I want the former of course, but despite my best efforts over many years, I remain unable to convince the wife that we should leave the UK.

Possibly because your Good Lady knows as an independent, free trading country your children can have a better future in the UK than to a far off mythical economic and political paradise!!:dunno::heehee:

Nah. She thinks the world is still massive. She can't get her head round the idea that you can get from the UK to most of the western world by plane in the length of time as it takes to drive from our house to Cornwall.

Just thought I would add my twopennyworth to this thread:

Anyone who thinks the EU is good for British industry or any other business simply hasn't paid attention to what has been systematically asset-stripped from the UK.

Here's a short list of financial and industrial FUBARs ( So what does FUBAR mean? It's an acronym for “Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition”) from the EU then,--

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.
Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.
Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, the same company who have trashed our steel works and emptied the workers’ pension funds.
Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.
Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.
M&S manufacturing gone to Far East with EU loan.
Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents all with EU grants.
Gillette gone to Eastern Europe with EU grant.
Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.
Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.
Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.
Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.
ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK, were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs
Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.
JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU 'regeneration' grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer. They also raided the pension fund and drained it dry.
UK airports are owned by a Spanish company.
Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.
Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies.
The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations.
Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.
Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it's Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing
altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.
39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU
The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria.
His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK.
The bicycle for the Greens was made in the Far East, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.

I haven't detailed our non-existent fishing industry the EU paid to destroy, nor the farmers being paid NOT to produce food they could sell for more than they get paid to do nothing, don't even go there.

I haven't mentioned what it costs us to be asset-stripped like this, nor have I mentioned immigration, nor the risk to our security if
control of our armed forces is passed to Brussels or Germany.-

                    ----------

Is it any wonder there are no jobs available and everything is closing down??

After reading this is anybody really going to vote remain????

The sooner we are out the better.

and a quote from DigitalSpy forum:

I'll end this with a quote from one of the founders of the European Community, Jean Monnet:
“Europe’s nations should be guided towards the super state without their people understanding what is happening.

This can be accomplished by successive steps, each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation.”

Now that's something to think about!!

Good morning @jjordie with the up most respect the fact that the above quote is made up Monnet never actually said or wrote it,If you repeat a statement often enough then it can be true and this is what has happened over the years:smile:

The list above is called progress and business it would have happened anyway eventually in or out of the Euro, the world systems had to change,as much as I loved the 1950/60's we really can't live in the past

I have already voted by post and still stick by my decision that is best for our grandchildren:old:;)

I have been buying some of my clothes from M&S since I was 16 before we had the first vote to come out of what was then the Common Market and the labels even then stated that the clothes were made abroad(Malaysia I think it was) so I can't see that it was done through an EU (Common Market )grant all those years ago but I could be wrong:smile:

Cadbury wasn't asset stripped it was taken over by the American company Mondelez International in 2010 - I thought the big fish being eaten by the even bigger fish was the raison d'être of capitalism.

@jjordie did you verify any of the information in that list before you posted? I see a very similar post at the Spectator's blog where another commentator pointed out that it had been fabricated. Ooh...penny dropped - sorry me being slow....lots of those have USA parent companies Proctor and Gamble, Whirlpool, Walgreen etc not British at all - sneaky! :snorky:

Thought the HMRC Child Benefit office was in Newcastle? If Westminster doesn't know it exists, no wonder we're in trouble :heehee:

It's in Washington. The only reason Westminster has heard of it is because they think it's in America.
