We have only been in this house for 18 months. It is rented and I probably shouldn't have made small beds round the postage stamp lawn, but I'm a gardener.
So last year I thought I'd get 3 David Austin climbing roses, and had real trouble with blackspot, and tortrix moth. So this year I thought I'd get ahead of myself, ONLY! I mixed up the blue containers, (I think) and The rose leaves have all died. I can only think I've sprayed them with weedkiller rather than the insectiside:frown:. I've chopped them right back, and crossing fingers and toes. But I'm always so careful, I think I must be going doolally!

I'm sure we have all done this in the past.

My Dad did something a little similar many years ago. He asked me to create a bed for him which I duly did with great love and care supplying plants from my own stock etc. The following spring ground elder popped up and by mid-summer he'd had enough. When someone suggested Round-Up he sprayed the whole bed assuming that the Round-Up knew the difference between a weed and an ornamental plant!
This little tale of woe doesn't help your roses though................
