If this referendum wasn't happening tomorrow, would you be out there protesting about the EU..... The thing I feel more ashamed or disgusted about at the moment is not Being a part of the EU, but being part of a country where people have turned against each other all for the sake of a vote which if hadn't have been put for tomorrow then most people wouldn't have given it a second thought and life would have gone on as normal. The campaigning has been utterly and totally disgracefull and shameful.
I'd rather be "told what to do" by UK MP's who I've voted in than by MP's and un-elected Bureaucrats living, and making a nice one at that, in another country who's aim is not the UK's welfare but to make a Federalised monster. Federalisation would make sure that that statement was part of History and in a few years time you would not be able to say that.
You're right, dai, religion does preach peace and tolerance.......it's just that Humans don't practice it. We have a primeval fear of anything different to ourselves and our own beliefs in peace, harmony, and tolerance disappears when that happens.
It's already frowned upon to claim to be English. Scottish, Welsh or Irish all fine, but not English. Us English sorts are all racist and ignorant.
It's written into the Sikh religion that able bodied young men must be armed and ready to fight in defence of their people and their faith.
Also Armandii. If you look at the teachings of the different religions you will find there are more similarities than discrepancies.
Being out there waving signs and banners, shouting out chants, has never proved effective. But this referendum gives everyone the opportunity to have a say in the future of the UK and is a reflection of the longstanding, and growing, distaste for the bumbling and bungling of the non elected bureaucrats in the EU, and the continuous spewing of "one size fits all" legislation that is entangling the UK as surely as a Spider entangles a fly in it's web.
That's true, Clueless, but it doesn't preach hate, fear of something different, the killing of those of different religions and you yourself pointed out that it states fighting should only occur in defence I don't think there is a country in the world that doesn't expect their countrymen to pick up arms in defence of their country. But Humans also will kill others for the "sin" of believing in a different God, not believing in any, or not following the rules of their religion.
