Well, again, that's not quite accurate,longk. All EU legislation will become automatically null and void when we formally leave the EU. It's a bit like leaving a Club or Business, the rules and "laws" will no longer be applicable to you as you have become a non member/employee. However, there as, as said earlier, EU laws that we have incorporated into our domestic law system and they will stay as they are advantageous to various UK interests and areas but they do not give any power to the EU but are merely a clone law. But those EU laws that we will no longer be accountable to when we leave will not need to be replaced as such as they will no longer be applicable to us. So the European Courts will have no ability to control how we control our borders and the system we apply.[i.e: the suggested Australian points system], identity documents issued by the UK, taxes, etc.
Sadly I think that it is. Opportunities are there to further their own countries interests. It is being mooted that the "passport" status that Norwegion based banks enjoy that allows them to offer their services in the EU will not be extended to a post Brexit UK. Now whilst that does not stop us offering banking services it does make it less straightforward, especially in the area of debt recovery, and thus less secure. Hence JP Morgan admitting that it is considering relocating some of its European headquarters to mainland Europe depending upon the shape that Brexit takes. They are thought not to be the only one although the other UK based operations are staying quiet on the matter until a better picture of things to come becomes available.
So exactly as I said then. You cannot just annul a law and leave a void. I don't think that any of us were under the illusion that European courts would hold any jurisdiction over us post Brexit were we The troubles come when the new leadership start to sort the wheat from the chaff. How much employee protection will remain? How much of the over-zealous EU environmental legislation will be discarded? Will Murdoch and his chums exert their influence over our version of anti-competition law? Will draconian new legislation be drafted that leaves trade unions almost pointless? Then again the French will be under no enforceable obligation to control their end of the border too rigorously and we cannot force them to accept back every illegal that stands at our passport control! All fun and games
They can't afford to be *seen* not to. Remember, this is a first; the last thing the bigwigs of the EU will want is for any of the other member states to see leaving as an option. How could they? It would fly in the face of their long term ambitions. I have no doubts that we will be made "an example of" up to the limits that they can push within the confines of organisations such as the WTO.
I doubt very much if we will change any of the laws incorporated from the EU into our Domestic law system, longk, as they are fairly reasonable so they probably will stay there. The laws I am talking about are the mass of laws that make us accountable to the EU..........they will go and not be replaced.
I believe you are right. But I think it could backfire. There are other countries where people have very similar concerns that we repeatedly expressed prior to voting out. Now imagine if we hadn't had our referendum yet. Imagine another country had, and had chosen to leave. We would be watching closely would we not? Therefore we would surely see that our worries that the European bureaucrats were in fact as self self serving and out of touch as we'd believed. In short, I think eu leaders being knobs now with us will simply feed the frustration and discontent that some other nations are already showing.
There's so much chatter about the fall out, the laments, the what ifs... I want to know one thing - what's the plan?! Leaders, ffs show us you're doing something!!
Yeah, but I tend to think he is stuffed if he does and stuffed if he dont. Cant really see how he could preside over the leaving talks under the circumstances.
Quite possibly: there are always two sides to the same coin. I think that is why Juncker was being rash in his reaction and Merkel was being wise in her choice of words when the results were announced. They're working on it Cameron has, effectively, given them 3 months to come up with something

They are doing something. Most are running round in tight circles waving their arms and hyperventilating. Some others are trying to catch hold of them and calm them down. Ours has legged it.
