I think there's a huge irony in all of this. Boris made a big deal about how money saved on contributions could be spent on the NHS. I'd be surprised if anything at all goes to the NHS. Indeed, I see further cuts ahead, when he comes to power. As for immigration, Boris hasn't once (to my knowledge) said that immigration will be reduced, just "fairer". Who decides what's "fair"? Him? The ultimate irony though would be that immigration increased even further. There's a thought. It's not that hard to imagine, when you consider that we have an ever aging population that has to be paid for, with an ever (apparently) declining birth rate among us 'brits'. This of course, is just a time-bomb, that keeps getting kicked down the road. I'm inclined to agree with those that say that xenophobia isn't rife, but it's a reality I think, to say that's there's still a fair bit of it around. I was watching earlier a news item, speaking to 'outers', asking why they voted to leave. Every one of them said it was the immigration issue. But under that I sensed that what they really wanted to say was "bloody foreigners". Maybe it's just me. It does though make me think that with such a tight vote, the xenophobic element has decided the outcome. Looking further ahead, the next general election should be interesting. Who to vote for? With all parties supporting staying 'in', it's hard at this point, to see how a coherent campaign can be fought. I normally vote Labour, but Corbyn's contribution during this referendum was woeful, to say the least. And in any case, the party is in total disarray.
Was it live? The reason I ask is that I believe the media is intentionally biased. If it wasn't live I'd fully expect they'd have cherry picked their footage, choosing to show only the bits that support their own agenda.
Good god do you really think Boris will be the next Conservative leader? I for 1 can remember when he slunk off the scene having denied dipping his wick in places he shouldn't, then it was proven he was a liar regarding the affair and he even put some woman through the indignity of having to prove he was the father to her child. Boris was married at the time. I may be wrong but think there is another little b Boris toddling about somewhere and no doubt lots more that the press haven't found out about yet. Come to think of it, perhaps he is your typical party leader following in a long line of cheating Sh1ts...Wilson, Major.....
No, it wasn't live. It may well be biased, who knows. It doesn't really matter though. They said it, and just proves there are some that think that way. The report was comparing voters from some London suburb (who voted in) to voters from Harlow (who voted out).
Here's Bozo and Gove after they've just won the referendum vote....they look like they've lost! They're probably inwardly panicking in case one of them has to invoke Article 50! David Cameron has thrown them the hand grenade and now one of them has to pull out the pin.
I don't think there's any doubt that a lot of people voted OUT with immigration as the driving force as to why they voted that way. But, I think there was also a large proportion of people to whom escaping the spectre of Federalisation was more important than immigration, while others voted for different reasons. But, we always seem to fall into the trap of focusing on what the Media states to be the main reason for voting out..........while, in fact, the reasons are more complex than that.
00000000000000000000000000015810I know this is going { slightly } off topic, but, there's a question I'd like to ask to some of our older and wiser { ? ? ? } members regarding Boris Johnson becoming Leader or possibly Prime Minister. Have we ever had a Prime Minister who has never served in a Government ? Have we ever had a Prime Minister who has only had 17 months ( come October) experience of being an MP ?
Oh well if Boris does make the top spot along with Donald they'll no doubt get on like a house on fire discussing whether Clairol or Nutrisse have the best hair dyes
Well, it was obvious that Boris was trying to drop the boisterous Boris image for that media conference and trying to appear more "sober, sombre, statesmanlike. Gove seemed to be trying to prove that all the things he'd said about the REMAIN party, Cameron etc, was in the past and that both parties should hold hands and sing John Lennon's "Imagine"
There's no denying that some think that way. For proof of that you only need to see that the daily express is somehow still going. None of that proves that the majority of leave voters voted based on immigration though.
