Can anyone advise me: are they self seeding, or should I buy some more seeds?

I've been really impressed with the seeds I scattered last year and the wonderful blooms I've got this year, so I'm wondering how best to get a repeat show next year.

    TIA

I moved a plant from my parents garden last June and this June I have lots of Sweet William surrounding it. I hadn't expected them to come too! they come up every year in their garden, so you should see them again next year.

They are generally seen as biennials, but they are in fact short lived perennials. When they have finished flowering cut them down and the will probably survive. However, it is always best to sow some fresh each year for the following year. That way you guarantee some blooms.

          Thank you :)

I've never grown them before and I am really impressed with them on a number of levels: gorgeous colours, great cut flower, attracts bees and today, I saw 3 butterflies all vying for the same flower head! :heehee:

A really good all rounder

They certainly are and the scent is pretty good too.

Now that is a smashing display @Palustris
Took your advice and bought another packet of seeds today so I'll scatter a few more in a month or so to guarantee another good year in 2017 :)

I would sow them now in a seed tray, rather than wait a month. They do better for a longer growing season. Just done some for the cutting garden.
