I can remember when I was a kid and during the summer holidays, mums would go fruit picking and take the kids along.
Its not like that now, most Mums have a proper job and the farmer would not want the kids tagging along anyway.
It has to be full on, pick pick pick, or your not pulling your weight.

And to be honest its young person's game, I dont see many older than 25, during the summer, picking apples and pears.

You're right, Anthony, it is........Canada is on a continent and the UK is an island, it has Lynx, Bobcat, Cougar, Coyotes, Gray Wolves, Brown Bears, Polar Bears, Racoons and Wolverine etc........and we don't.
Why is it, that in order to disagree with someone and dismiss someone else's opinion, we use their Nationality??, I just don't understand that.:dunno: Whether Lori is from Canada or Timbuctoo is surely irrelevant:scratch: Lori has lived through Life, experienced it's ups and downs, worked, paid her bills etc and is probably more "worldly" than most of us.:love30::snorky:

No mate, my rainy day is when I retire and only have the basic pension to fall back on, due to differing government meddling over the years.
I was looking for another job, but the twits at the job centre said I should retrain, but for what?

I'd been a joiner for 45 yrs at the time and basically it wasn't until I explained, that they tended to think, it was actually a skilled job, they didn't even know what joinery was.

They then tried to get me to go for all kinds of jobs, none of which I had a clue about.

My now boss recently put an ad on line for a joiner, he had loads of replies, but not from joiners, mainly, people just applying to get the amount of hits on their score card to satisfy the cretins at the job centre.

One time when I was on the dole, I got asked when signing on what I'd done to find a job since last time. I told them, truthfully, I'd liberated an unprotected list of recruitment agent email addresses from an online job advert board. Used my IT skills to filter out only those that were in the mainland UK. I'd also been to see a marketing lady firmer colleague and pulled in a favour to have my cv turned into a professional document. Back to that liberated list of email addresses, I bulk emailed over 1200 agencies with my newly polished CV. Then over the following days I'd received around 600 phone calls, and had leads with about 20 agencies, with most of the rest telling me they've got things in the pipeline but nothing yet.

I got told off. Apparently I hadn't actually applied for any jobs myself because getting other professionals to help me, professionals who specialise in that sort of thing, doesn't count.

Pete, if you are a good, experienced joiner, then why not go freelance? What is your speciality?

                @clueless1

I'm not trained in diplomacy and have never looked at an online petition but think that it should be short and sweet. I don't know whether they require backing statements.

We the undersigned call on the government to guarantee that all peoples now in the country legally, at the time of entry, be allowed to stay.

                Any arguments against that? :noidea:

I wasn't using her nationality at all.

I was just stating that their utilities etc work in different ways to ours.

PS.... I can't get a water meter as you can't have them fitted in high rise blocks.

See if you can get last nights BBC Midlands Today on the internet. The details were reported there.

Couldn't we just go back to how it's been for the last month or so. You ignore me, I ignore you.

Everytime you post anything to me it's all about putting me down.

I agree, shiney, but with the proviso that we do NOT opt into the single market and all it implies.

The GC Gang, of which you are a paid up and much appreciated member, Anthony, doesn't allow anyone to be put down, especially as we've banned the carrying of Humane Killers on the forum just in case someone gets into the Admin Office.:dunno: To be honest, all I could see in "M"'s last post was a query asking for the source of your info:doh:.
We all have differing opinions and views and the number of people who disagree with me, and the number of guys and gals that have posted a disagreement in some of my posts must be in, at least, the hundreds..........but they don't ignore me and I don't ignore them. Okay, we have the ignore option on the Forum, but you and "M" are both intelligent people:love30: and can surely post and discuss in any thread without the danger of putting each other down. I've often disagreed with some of the GC gang who might have got a bit "emotive and who have ignored the advice about thinking about what they're posting and been too "blunt" and shouldn't have posted. However, I haven't seen anything offensive in either of your posts in any thread but was is apparent is that you have different views on matters. But, to my mind, ignoring and not putting your own views, reasonably, without offence, and then knowing to agree to disagree, is not what people of your intelligence should do.:coffee::snorky:

I started doing it, but then I discovered you have to give your full really name, and they publish it. And I have a very distinctive name.

Anyone whose real name is John or Jane Smith like to do it?

You know me, would not want to stir anything up, and I mean that.

But did anyone see the bit on the BBC news regarding who voted to leave and who voted to remain???

From that, I get the impression that the hate crimes are being perpetrated by immigrants, as looking at that particular footage there doesn't appear to be any English people living in Birmingham, everyone interviewed was non white, most spoke English with an accent, and it wasn't a brummie one.

Before you say I'm racist please bear in mind, maybe its the BBC that is racist?

I'm just saying this because that is just the kind of thing that makes us think that, maybe, we are being overrun.
