We are lucky to have two sea bird colonies close by and a couple of nature reserves too, my garden is wildlife friendly too. Now the grandchildren are getting bigger, I intend to introduce a wildlife pond during the autumn/winter so they can do a bit of pond dipping.

Out for a walk this evening there was a bit of a rumpus going on around this aerial, I counted six Magpies. They all took off and.......

.......revealed this dove. The fact that it's feathers are ruffled suggests it was old or ill. Perhaps that's why the Magpies were taunting it.

I love Puffins too and Kittiwakes, :dbgrtmb: I haven't seen either since a visit to the Farne Island years ago. Here, we just have Fulmars, Guillemots and a few Razorbills.

They have all but disappeared from the south coast now.:frown:

We've been getting feral pigeons lately. always had wood pigeons but the ferals are now coming in groups and clearing out my big bird feeder. I've had to stop putting seed in the big feeder and restrict it to the small feeder, which they can't land on.

If they don't go away soon I may have to do something about it.

We are always careful to check the hedges before cutting them but we missed one nest today. We thought all the nesting was over but, after working on the privet (150ft long) we found a nest with fairly large baby blackbirds. :rolleyespink:

That area is now out of bounds :blue thumb: I'll see whether I can get into a position to take a photo from a distance but it will be difficult. It's where the hedge meets the next door neighbour's fence and close to our summerhouse. Not very accessible.

Couldn't figure out what this blue jay was up to. I thought he'd had a stroke because he just squatted and stayed in this position with his beak open for about 5 minutes.
