Got reminded of this old thread... http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/is-this-the-start-of-the-end.37785/#post-478994
Go @merleworld! The only thing which keeps me from having a complete SOH failure when mook mouth is on the telly (never seems to have been off it lately) is remembering a rumour that her husband ending up in A&E with a bite to a certain part of his anatomy presumably inflicted during the throes of passion....yuk.
Please please lock me in a room with Farage & I promise you will never have to see or hear that berk again! ......so that's sorted @merleworld is doing over fishface krankie, I'm doing Farage over (not in a good way!!) any volunteers for Jeremy?? Come on there must be someone!!! .
Amongst other things, the EU hasn't had full, signed off accounts by auditors for 19 years. Totalling €109 BILLION.... And that's what they know of... In reality, probably a lot more than that. Gravy train indeed, and milking the Europeans of €billions. It's all a tangled web of deceit, greed and power.
Poor Jeremy. I don't share many of his beliefs, but at least he speaks up for what he believes. That's why he didn't say much in the run up to the referendum. He knew the expectation on him was to be pro eu, but he is anti eu, so what could he do? He tried to pretend to be pro eu but quickly realised he was no good at it. At this point other politicians would simply try harder to lie, or use distractions, but Jeremy couldn't. So he kept quiet. While I would never vote for him or a party he leads, I do respect him for having the backbone to stick to what he believes.
Jeremy certainly has backbone @clueless1, too much backbone! Whilst I fully understand what you are saying he really needs to go now! There's nothing wrong with being passionate & believing in yourself but it's also very important to be able to realise when enough is enough & it's time to go (Anyway I thought I wasn't getting involved with this thread!!!)
Unfortunately, he's putting himself before the real Labour Voter and the country. I don't feel any sympathy for him or for any of his cronies who are egging the poor idiot on. I said before that he reminds me of Steptoe But now he seems to be doing a He's going to leave a Legacy of a completely split and broken Labour Party, no chance of the Labour Party ever getting into Government, and more Labour voters either voting UKIP, or Conservative. Be true to himself and the Country?? It takes backbone not be manipulated by the extremists in the Labour Party, recognise that the whole Country believes he should stand down, that he has brought the Labour Party to it's knees, and to what purpose? He'll never be a Prime Minister, he'll never be recognised as a true leader of the Labour Party. I'm afraid that his place in the political history books, will be quoted as an example of complete obstinate lunacy, and will not be a good one
Maybe. I just think it's interesting that we complain that our politicians are self serving liars with no moral backbone. Then we complain when one breaks the mould by sticking to his beliefs and making no effort to hide those beliefs. Like I said, I can't agree with him on many things. But he was elected by a huge number of people to reform and resurrect a dying political party, and is now being ousted by the very same people that were there when their party took a serious battering.
Before the referendum was even on the cards, he was clearly opposed to us being in the eu. You know this. So perhaps in his mind, in staying out of the way while the leave campaign was gaining ground, perhaps he was doing what he thought was right for the country. And come on, steptoe? What on earth has his appearance got to do with anything? Same when ed milliband was dismissed as a geek. I worry about the people of Britain sometimes. I hope my children's future is not being decided on the basis of what someone looks like.
But he didn't stick to his beliefs did he, clueless. If his true belief was not to join the EU then he should have stood up the the Labour Party extremists and to told them he didn't agree with them. But he didn't, so where's the backbone in that? No, he wasn't He was voted in as Leader by a majority of a political "grass roots" Party who at the time numbered 270,000, [it is now around 350, 000], and not by the 10 million plus people who used to vote Labour, so you're not even close to a fraction of one per cent of ordinary voters who have Labour beliefs. What has happened, in these fraught political times, is that a man with extremist beliefs has been voted in by extremists egging on the more gullible members of the Party. "Behold, the Messiah!!!, vote for Jeremy and he will lead you to the Promised Land"...........well, the Labour Party's chances of becoming able to lead the country don't look so Heavenly now, do they
No, you're right, clueless, I'm mistaken, he's nothing like Steptoe.......Steptoe would have said exactly what he thought and believed and to heck with other people. I can't remember any Political Leader who has been so ineffective and damaging to a political party.........yes, he's done really well at doing right for the country.
So we've just made the biggest decision of many of our lifetimes, affecting ourselves, our kids, and probably their kids, based on whether or not a politician looks like an actor in a 1970s sitcom. Gods help us.
Thanks for the clarification Armandii, so there is still hope Well the best way to bait a sturgeon is with a little worm
