I'm going to throw my hat in the ring and say "Theresa May for PM". I was a bit dubious at first because she was a 'remain' campaigner (although not an ardent one). However, she is doing her press conference now and comes across very well and inspires confidence that she will do her absolute best to ensure we get the best deal. I would certainly trust her above Boris. Gove has thrown his hat in the ring saying that he doesn't trust Boris. Ouch, that knife in the back must hurt, eh Boris? There were a couple of funny moments, including one where she was asked why she was best placed to negotiate in Europe. Because she'd done it before and delivered. She said of course Boris could negotiate in Europe as well: "I seem to remember that last time he negotiated with the Germans he came back with three nearly new watercannon". Boris delivering his speech at 11am ish. Should be interesting.
I'm not sure what to make of her. I think she's infinitely more tenacious that Cameroon or Bozza, and less of a complete bell end than Gove. I see her as thatcher the second. Ordinarily a terrible thing, but right now we need someone with a spine, and she has that.
On this one she is simply the mouthpiece. And to be fair the German Car Manufacturers Association publicly stated the same a few days before any European leader broke cover and said it. Nope. Most of them are in private ownership, be it family concerns, groups or public listed companies. Not an option. Repairing a European car even with tariffs applied will still be far cheaper.
Maybe Boris is waiting on the sidelines for the next leadership battle. I reckon whoever is chosen this time will be a sacrificial lamb because the coming Brexit negotiations are going to be tough and unpopular - especially if the UK has to compromise on Freedom of Movement.
I thought that Teresa's 'I'm standing for PM' speech was very good. I was a bit concerned that she seemed to be 'uncomfortable' addressing immigration issues - and campaigned for 'In' - good speech but... Gove stabbed BoJo in the back by putting himself forward - I would tend to lean towards Stephen Crabb at the moment - solely because he is being supported by Sajid Javid. Shame it wasn't the other way round.
Sadly, Nissan is no longer wholly Japanese owned - they are part of the Nissan Renault Alliance, where each company owns a percentage (around 20% from memory) of each other, so like it or not there is still EU involvement. The thing that still disturbs me is the fact that Merkel has the final say - is that not the very thing that our servicemen gave their lives to prevent happening??
Yep. Lots of people said that before the referendum. I half believed it but at the same time figured it can't be entirely true. I think we've seen the true colours of Europe since the referendum result. Some of the remain side are campaigning for a rematch, arguing that many leave voters didn't mean it and didn't expect to win. Well I voted remain. If asked to vote again I would certainly vote leave. I think with language of the order of 'this is non negotiable ' and 'you should leave as soon as possible ', I think two things are abundantly evident. The eu is as inflexible and ignorant as many claimed, and it is pretty much an economic, political and cultural takeover of Europe. Now which country tried it twice before and failed?
Yep, twice And it was and always will be Germany that wants to control the world, they just do it in different ways now. Regarding Boris, I dont actually believe he was stabbed in the back, I think he just isn't up to the job, never ever thought he was. Think the Leave vote caught him out, he never expected that, and I could never see a bloke like that capable of taking on the leaving negotiations. Dont like Gove, but I think he is right when he says Boris is not up to the job. May is the only one that sounds sensible to me, although to be honest I dont know much about the others involved.
