    Hi Ben,

I'm no expert at Salvias, but I treat them the same as Fuchsias, taking cuttings around Sept/Oct and then overwintering them indoors ( no greenhouse ).

It seems there are a lot of Amistad about! I got this one for a fiver at B&Q last week and repotted it immediately as it is not ready to be planted yet.

I not totally sold on it. It is proving to be quite a poor performer for me. Great colour though.

You can do them at any time that they are actively growing but mild warmth is what is needed rather than summer heat.

That is certainly true in this area. Should be quite a few reduced later in the season.

Then the winds came in on Friday night and it lost the first flowers to some flying debris...........

Just as an update to my post earlier, where my Peach Parfait turned out to be Blue Note, well the actual Blue Note has also flowered and is a... Blue Note. Was just hoping I'd mislabelled the two

Shame, but I guess I at least have insurance. Plus another Salvia I can gift to my mother next time I'm back :)

I have also successfully cultivated another Royal Bumble cutting. The one I got from Hayloft is small but doing well, but where I got this cutting is a well established bush at the front of a Community Centre which I pass on my way to work each day. It's flowering at the moment and looks lovely (albeit a bit lonely!). If anyone wants a Royal Bumble cutting sent through do PM me, as I can easily "cultivate" some more this week. :snork:

(@Anthony Rogers was this one of yours which went to Salvia heaven?)

Done! I'll collect a few more stems today and get them rooting. Also the fuscias you gifted me are just about the flower, I shall have some photos in the next week or so I hope.

Lovely @longk, earlier in the season I was hunting for paler Salvias and read up about glutinosa. Beautiful yellow, but iirc it doesn't flower for long?

Usually a couple of months but this year it is very late. The biggest problem with it is that it is a great big thug of a plant! Totally hardy though.
