So doesn't that mean they'll be contractually entitled to full pay until the end of their notice period? And if so, given that their replacements will want paying, does that mean us taxpayers are currently paying two lots of salaries for the same post?

No, there is no employment length contract for Cabinet Ministers as their posts are subject to political whims. Having said that, they will get a standard "compensation", a higher level of pension, and a almost guaranteed appointment to the House of Lords, [and all the benefits that come with it] by the Queen on the recommendation of the Prime Minister whoever he/she might be:love30::heehee:

So whereas for most of us, getting fired is at least in the short term a terrible thing, and thing to be worried about, and thing you would work hard to avoid, for a senior politician it means, same perks as before but without any of the responsibility.

Most of them, clueless, are wealthy enough, and have the right connections to take non-executive Directorships in big companies, to never worry about going on the Dole when leaving a job. Senior Civil Servants, Politicians, etc are guaranteed that they won't starve when leaving or retiring.:dunno::coffee:

I just cannot believe Boris is F.S.

On a positive note I thought David Cameron's speech was wonderful, his children were so beautifully behaved & the love & care he shows to his wife makes my heart sing.

I wouldn't underestimate Boris. He's got lots of business experience, dealing with foreign Ministers, etc,........and he didn't get to all the positions he has held without being intelligent.
Theresa May is no fool and by appointing Boris as Foreign Secretary she stops him from interfering in Brexit as the Foreign Office has been barred from those negotiations, but she also knows he have to buckle down to the job. So Boris has gone from being a prime candidate, according to some, for Prime Minister, to heading the Brexit campaign, to being stabbed in the back by Gove and doomed to obscurity, to being brought back from the shadows to a front line Government Ministerial Post which nobody expected.............which also puts him back as a candidate for a future Prime Minister.:dunno::heehee:
So far she has not given "jobs for the boys" and looks like she has thought about it all even before she threw her hat in the ring for the job. It's going to be interesting to see if she does increase the number of the fair sex into Ministerial posts and bring about a much needed change. We're in "interesting" times!!

That's only because Cameron told them if they didn't behave they'd have to sit with

@ARMANDII, I needed to rate your thread both funny & informative!
Thank you for explaining that , I can now see where May is coming from....I should have been able to
                  Work that out...but I didn't  .
I have no doubt that Boris is clever he's just too much of a joker for me, his silly antics are just so immature for my liking, let's hope this post calms him down a bit :dbgrtmb:

He also has responsibility for foreign intelligence matters (mi6 / gchq) which given some of his frivolous habits and comments i'm not sure will be so happy with his appointment.

I don't doubt his brains (mostly) but this could be worth a bucket of popcorn!

I think you'll find he's more of an "ear" for them than in control of them, Loofah:dunno::snork: and can be bypassed as they have direct responsibility and contact with the Prime Minister of the time.:coffee::snork:
