      Thanks woo!
      Just having a bad few mins...Just old fashioned I guess.
      You are right I love a challenge.
      Plants I have never seen before I try to id and learn.
      The more I learn the more I realise just how little I know!

      Little grey cells have trouble remembering the names!

        Your grey cells work much better than mine :love30:

        Nowadays, with me, I forget the names but just know whether they are a 'leave', 'pull' or 'dig'.

        @EnglishmanCFC
        Sorry to say, most of those you have pulled out are 'dig out' plants. They need digging to be on the safe side. If they reappear then dig them out. :blue thumb:

        4 Smooth sow thistle? Definitely a weed, but easy to pull out.

        @EnglishmanCFC

        The spurge and sow thistles need to be removed as soon as possible as they spread like wild fire. If you've got rabbits or guinea pigs, they go crazy for sow thistles.

        Petty spurge/sun spurge etc can easily be pulled out but always wear gloves as they are a type of Euphorbia and are rather poisonous.

        In the case of the most common versions of Oxalis, they need to be carefully teased out with a hand fork to remove all the roots and/or bubils. They are pretty resistant to many weedkillers though.... but yours is one that I've never seen before and it is rather stunning.

        Right, thank you to everyone so far who has helped.

        A few of the unknowns have grown, and it's likely A lot are decent plats because I planted loads of bulbs.

        1) literally have no idea, it's suddenly shot up 12inches in a couple of days and budded
        [IMG]

        2) again, I don't know, it's been up in this thread but was no definite identification, similar leaves to lemon verbena but I'm not sure
        [IMG]
        [IMG]

        3) these are peeking from under my dahlia, appeared early this week
        [IMG]

        4) these appeared in the middle of my Dutch iris last week
        [IMG]

        5) and this is a weed I assume?
        [IMG]

        Thank you, you lovely lovely people

            1 gladiolus (flower)
            2 Polgonum/bistort (weed)
            3 oxalis (weed, remove or it'll take over, through you may want that!) Its leaves are those clover ones with the splodge in the middle on photo 4
            4 Cheerfulness daffodil (flower) out of season
            5 cabbage family (weed) oil seed rape etc....you can actually just cook n eat the young leaves like cabbage, but yeah, it's a weed.

              In the bottom half of the picture in 3. is creeping buttercup. Definitely a dig out and not a pull out. It may have crept quite a lot (or not) so follow the runner and carefully dig out where it may have put down roots. A pernicious weed.

              On second glance, I agree with @Silver surfer re:4. The flat leaves could be freesia and aren't daff/narcissus.

              I think I've planted bulbs for both 2 and 3. Might regret that. I planted loads of bulbs in two locations and they're in both. Why would a shop sell weeds?

              The buttercups may stay as my daughter likes them although the oil seed rape will come up today. Is it better to pull/dig them or dose with glyphosate?

                If they are easy to pull out just pull'm out, oil seed rape is easy to pull
