This is currently trashing various parts of my garden especially the soft fruit.
This is a disadvantage of having a Zoo for a neighbour.

        Hi Nigel,

I hope the elephants can't escape, now that would be damage :)

Seriously though can't you erect some fruit cages or would they still get through ?

            And extremely noisy! :rolleyespink:

Elephants absolutely adore citrus fruit. There's quite a story behind the building of the Addo Elephant Park in S. Africa. It was to stop the citrus farmers from annihilating the elephant herds. There were only 11 elephants left by the time they moved them 70 miles to the newly built, and fenced, park.

Any cage needs to be a solid affair given the size of the birds.
I am in the process of putting up a 12ft * 12ft cage to protect the gooseberries and currants.
The idea of a large cage over the whole garden has an appeal, but I always thought the birds should be in the aviary not outside.

We used to live near Linton Zoo in Cambridgeshire, it was very surreal relaxing in the garden on a hot summers evening listening to the Lions roar.
