image.jpeg image.jpeg hi we have this wild flower growing in our garden its 7 feet tall and has snapdragon type flowers, the stems have a reddish colour.
We got it from a local farmer where it grows at. The side of the road on his land, he didn't know what it was but has been growing there for ages.

Himalayan Balsam, very invasive alien, it'll spread everywhere :yikes:

Quick, eat the seed pods before they explode :hate-shocked:

Very invasive indeed! The Environment Agency spends millions removing it from our waterways. Selling it is, I think, now banned.

It has beautiful orchid-like flowers.. but they smell like a badger's rear end.

As @Zigs and @Redwing hyave suggested, this is a plant that is best to get rid of ASAP and not left to seed as it is a real pest, especially around waterways and damp soil borders. Dig it out with a fork (or if the soil is damp enough, it can be pulled out).

It has exploding seed pods that can fire hundreds of seeds per plant a remarkable distance. It's almost like a varient of types of willowherbs... but on steroids.
