Just a thought ... It has crossed my mind if there are any famous or celebrity gardeners that are members of this website? To me it would make sense; you can keep your identity anonymous, yet have access to the knowledge of the 1000's of members and forums.

We can't all be experts on every aspect of gardening, so what a great research tool this website/forum is ... I wonder if Monty, Joe Swift, Mr Titchmarsh or Carol K etc have been responding to members questions or indeed asking question of their own ...

Further to this, who knows, there could be other famous people, who like their gardening and want to know more. I suppose we'll never know, but as I said, just a thought ...

    Chris

By the way, no, I'm not famous!!!

I'm famous. I used to be on telly regularly. Well, by regularly I mean twice, with an 8 year gap between appearances. And when I say appearances, I mean that in one the camera scanned past the crowd I was in, and on the second go the top of my head was broadcast for about 3 whole seconds while someone filmed me using an angle grinder, as part of an article about our engineering course for deprived youths.

I was also listed in the credits on the back of the printed programme for the show 'A Christmas Carol ', as performed by our university drama society where'd I'd volunteered as sound engineer in the hope of winning the affection of the fine young ladies that had also joined the drama society.

I think your nearly right but slightly mistaken.

I'm fairly sure that capability brown's grandad was a child apprentice of shineys.

I was on the telly some years back on a dreadful programme called Diners. I agreed to be on it BEFORE I'd actually seen just how awful a programme it was. Luckily the episode featuring yours truly went out at some ungodly hour like 23.30 pm. I told nobody I was featuring and so the only person who I knew did see me was our farrier who mentioned seeing the programme with a big sniggery grin on his face...phew could have been worse.

We have a few members that have been on TV with their gardens or gardening knowledge.

I've been on TV a few times but not for gardening (or Most Wanted).

I was on there in the fifties whilst on the Aldermaston March.
Was filmed for a whole day at work in the sixties and had three minutes of film fame out of all that filming :heehee:
And on small items of news a few times.

Mrs Shiney had a full ten minutes on the 6 o'clock news when she was interviewing (having a go at :)) the regional manager of British Rail during the rail strikes.

Been on telly twice, in1963 when the queen visited Newport, myself and 69 others sang in front of her at the Civic Centre. Second time was in 1966 when the first Severn Bridge opened.
