20.5" as of yesterday. Really starting to slow down now though, they were putting 2-2.5" per week over the last few weeks but only got 1" out of them last week. Not really any fresh growth being produced now either so don't think they are going to get much bigger now :/

I grew one that size a couple of years ago it weighed just over 2Kg. I hope yours do carry on growing ash.

By Thursday, mine will be released from their pots into the new garden. Hopefully this will get them going on a growth spurt.

Where does everyone get their supports for these? I have never seen any over here and my greenery is very floppy. Could sure use some. :)

Aha, thank you @JWK :) I will try to source those.

Edit: They don't have them here so I decided that I will take some of my ceiling wire (12ga aluminum) and make some - thanks again for the heads up

Mine are still plodding on. Not had any decent weather lately though. All the radar succumbed to white rot.
                Will be weeding tomorrow.. image.jpeg

Mine are 15" today, putting on approx 2" a week.

I estimate the weight of mine to be roughly:
                  3rd July 233g
                  12th July 517g
                  19th July 796g

How do you estimate @JWK ?

This was taken on Saturday 16th...They're really starting to bulk out now!

When do you normally pull yours up? How will I know they're ready?

Get the volume from your circumference here (very approx as it's for a sphere): http://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-solids/sphere.php

Then multiply your volume (in cubic inches) by 13.97 (from my measured harvest in 2013).
Will give you an approx weight in grammes.

Sorry for the mixed units :)

Might pick one of mine soon as we are running out of them from last year (stored in freezer) - will pick a smaller one so it will be a good check on my weight estimator.

Late August. Leaving it till mid September I've found doesn't give enough time to get them thoroughly dried/ripened for storage over winter.

They will stop sending up new leaves, then the neck will feel soft, followed by the tops yellowing and dying down. If you obsessively measure them each week like I do then they are ready when they stop swelling.

For maximum weight they need to be pulled immediately and then prepared (cleaned & roots & top cut off) and weighed. I'd do this just for the best one or two.

For maximum storage they need a dose of potash around about now, then once the leaves are yellowing I pull them up and leave them on the soil to dry out the roots. Some folk bend over the tops. After a couple of weeks I put mine in a blow away greenhouse to keep off the rain and get maximum sun. Don't remove the leaves as you can use them to hang up in a dry cool garage/shed. Even then these large Kelsae don't store too well, eat them first or as we do chop them up and open freeze dry them, bagged they store for months.
