You mean like me, its not just women that are having retirement/ pension dates altered, its happening to men also.
Agreed women might be finding dates moved to a greater degree, but that is mostly down to the inequality that has gone on for years.

What a nasty name for 'people' I much prefer personnel dept.

"Human resources" makes people appear to be just that, something to be used.

Glad where I work we dont have an HR dept. just all working together.

Further to Dai's post, it is sarcastically called Human Remains in most larger companies because they don't give a dam about people anymore just how much extra work they can get out of us for minimum wage..

Which is precisely why it is called HR, because that is precisely what employees are, a resource.
"Personnel" has the emphasis on employees as people who have needs and needs which have to be met ;)

When I was running my business I had a phone call from the tax office, from someone who sounded fairly young, asking to speak to someone in charge of Human Resources and I told them that I didn't understand the question and could they please speak in English. :heehee: After a short silence on the other end of the phone I heard a voice in the background ask them who they were talking to. :rolleyespink:

The new voice came on the phone, turned out to be the senior officer, and he said in a friendly voice, "Mr Shiney, are you being awkward again?" :loll: He said that he knows that I know what I was being asked (I'd been cutting his hair for the last twenty years :snork:) and would I please deal with the question (I always endeavoured to mess them around). So I said that "I think your minion must have been referring to our employment and welfare department" (that was me, as I did everything :)).

I don't know what the rules are nowadays :noidea: but it used to be that once an employee reached the age of 60, and had paid the required 44 years of contributions, they didn't need to pay any more NI contributions - but the employer still had to pay their part.

Maybe you should enquire about that (try not to punch them on the nose :heehee:).

                      Good luck. :blue thumb:

Or 66th, or 68th, depending on when they say you can draw your government pension.

I just regret never taking a Gap Year,:Wino:, or spending my time at university until I was 25.:snorky:
