                Never having grown Garrya elliptica, but seen it often, I was under the impression the catkins formed during the winter?:scratch::smile:

                Hazel is rather like that. If you check now you will find very tiny catkins forming...but normally we think of Hazel catkins as a sign of spring.

                Garry has male flowers and female flowers.
                Only once have I found fertilised seed pods. Most Garrya are only male.
