Has anyone tried either hard pruning or moving one of these? Mine is in a south west facing border and is about 6 feet tall and wide and is now taking over? Everything I've read online seems to say it can't be pruned or moved.

    What grevillea is it?
Light pruning is OK, too hard and you might kill it.
Never tried moving an established one but get the feeling its not a good idea.

I agree with Pete, a light trim but not much more.

It's a rosmarinifolia, Pete, thought I might be stuck with it! Thanks for your reply.

I had a nice plant of Canberra gem for a good few years, but cut it back too hard one year and it died on me.
I did find cuttings are pretty easy though, and this time of the year is probably about right.
        So worth a go perhaps.

Prune the tips in the spring after all chance of frost has passed. My godfather in NZ grows a fair few and reckons that it is about trial and error made more complicated by the fact that they have blind buds (below the bark surface) making it hard to be certain of how far to cut back. hence his tip about tip pruning to start with and maybe getting bolder in subsequent years.

Thanks, longk, have already been bolder but must now decide how much bolder to go! Will certainly try some cuttings though.
