    Aloha everyone,

We have another sunny and hot day on its way so I've already done some pottering around outside and shall, shortly, do a bit more weeding before keeping out of the sun.

As it's bridge club this afternoon I shall need to weigh and bag up all the beans that I've picked, but not eaten :), in the last three days. It should be in excess of 50lb. The picking, weighing and bagging is about three hours unpaid work and I'm thinking of reporting myself for using me as slave labour! :heehee: @Beckie76 Do I need a Health and Safety Policy? :snork:

There's no movement on our road-'not'-works. Two holes (I'm thinking of putting some sort of cover over them and renting them out ;)), a big stretch of road coned off and traffic lights.

Still drought here and the sprinkler is going to get worn out.

Whilst I've been typing this a blue tit has ben sitting on the windowsill looking in. @wiseowl have you sent him to keep an eye on me? I know it can't be because they want feeding as I've already filled up the bird feeders.

Keep well and have a great day

    Aloha!

      Good Morning everyone,

Well done Becky in getting your home and garden sorted and poor Hilda too, hope she is improving no end.

Lot cooler out there this morning but some pleasant sunshine coming through.
Have a lovely day everyone and don't overdo things. Stay warm and dry and above all safe and well,
      God bless.:wub2:

        Good afternoon,

I'm really missing being at home, I never thought I'd say that! I'm sure once I back into the swing of things at work my focus will be less on being at home! Well let's hope so anyway!

Oh yes @shiney you certainly need a health & safety policy, steel toecap boots, high vis jacket or vest, a bump hat, food handling certificate & whatever you do :nonofinger: don't even mention a ladder! :heehee: You probably need a scaffold tower go pick the high up runner beans! Thank god I have a sense of humour!

Hilda the hen seems to be doing fine:fingers crossed: long may this continue :blue thumb:

Golly it's so dry, my garden is really struggling, I think I may have to get the sprinkler out, I've been giving some plants a drink using the watering can it its not enough. :thud:

Best I get a wriggle on, Lunch break has come to an end. :)

Enjoy the rest of your day :grphg:

          Good day everyone
I am late getting on here as I have been spending a good deal of time on the interweb trying to locate a hospital bed that will tilt laterally for my friend in the home. We are worried about pressure sores. I found one that looks dandy but think they don't list the pricing in case it frightens people away before letting them do their sales routine.

It rained a good part of the night and is forecast to continue in spurts throughout the day. Free water :hapfeet:

Have a safe day and take note that we are running out of summer. :yikes: Carpe Diem!!!

                  Morning early people :)

Bit of excitement last night involving a dingy that was taking on water.

Gonna be a hot one today :phew: Have a good day everyone and wear a hat :spinning:

                      Aloha everyone,

Another sunny day. I'm just on the way outside to carry on weeding and digging (45 minutes max - I promise :)).

@Zigs Better watch out or Terry's ghost may be after you :hate-shocked:

@moyra Yes, another £50 for the charity. :hapydancsmil:

It's green waste and recycling day today. I don't know whether the council will collect it as we're between the two sets of traffic lights - but there's enough room for the lorry to pull in between the cones.

Keep well and have a great day

                      Aloha!

Good Morning everyone, What's a Sturgeon Moon WOO? Never heard of that before. Hope its to do with fishing Steve has gone today first time this year I think he has been working so hard. Still I think he has got enough money together to get himself a new or nearly new van. Just in time as the old one is about on its last legs and would need about a grand to get it through its MOT and frankly it is not worth spending that sort of money on it to last just a year.
Have a good day all, stay warm and dry and above all safe and well, God bless. :wub2:

                              Aloha everyone,

                              Good morning everyone,

I've been out in the garden working and there was a wonderful dawn chorus :blue thumb:. It always amazes me that the small birds carry on feeding and chirping away and don't seem the least bothered by me being amongst them, whereas the bigger birds all fly away.

It's Shiney MOT week this week :). I've been to the hygienist and chiropodist already and am off for my eye test this morning and the chiropractor tomorrow. Our water softener also has it's MOT tomorrow and the service on our boiler is due. :phew:

Mrs Shiney is gradually improving and was up to doing some gardening yesterday - quite a lot of it :dbgrtmb:.

The sun is shining and all's well in Shineyland

Keep well and have a great day

Hi moyra my friend well take a seat and listen carefully,it might take some time;)

Native Americans’ Full Moon names were created to help different tribes track the seasons. Think of it as a “nickname” for the Moon! See our list of other full Moon names for each month of the year and their meanings.

WHY NATIVE AMERICANS NAMED THE MOONS
The early Native Americans did not record time by using the months of the Julian or Gregorian calendar. Many tribes kept track of time by observing the seasons and lunar months, although there was much variability. For some tribes, the year contained 4 seasons and started at a certain season, such as spring or fall. Others counted 5 seasons to a year. Some tribes defined a year as 12 Moons, while others assigned it 13. Certain tribes that used the lunar calendar added an extra Moon every few years, to keep it in sync with the seasons.

Each tribe that did name the full Moons (and/or lunar months) had its own naming preferences. Some would use 12 names for the year while others might use 5, 6, or 7; also, certain names might change the next year. A full Moon name used by one tribe might differ from one used by another tribe for the same time period, or be the same name but represent a different time period. The name itself was often a description relating to a particular activity/event that usually occurred during that time in their location.

Colonial Americans adopted some of the Native American full Moon names and applied them to their own calendar system (primarily Julian, and later, Gregorian). Since the Gregorian calendar is the system that many in North America use today, that is how we have presented the list of Moon names, as a frame of reference. The Native American names have been listed by the month in the Gregorian calendar to which they are most closely associated.

NATIVE AMERICAN FULL MOON NAMES AND THEIR MEANINGS
The Full Moon Names we use in the Almanac come from the Algonquin tribes who lived in regions from New England to Lake Superior. They are the names the Colonial Americans adapted most. Note that each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred.
