We quite often get people bringing us little gifts for helping them. Usually it's a plant

 

Our road saga continues. The holes that the electricity board made in the road have all been filled in and tarmacked over - on Tuesday morning. They took the traffic lights and cones away on Wednesday evening and everything is OK.

Except for:
The water leak hasn't been fixed. There are still the blue painted lines around the area where the water is leaking (cause of the electric blowing up and the electric workmen cutting through the gas main ).

I phoned the water board this morning and spoke to a very nice woman who looks after the schedules for the work to be done. She looked up her records that tell her that the job was scheduled on the 10th (the day that they painted the marks) and was completed on the 15th (Monday)!!! When I told her that they haven't been along and that the leak is worse she got just a little bit annoyed . She will phone back

 

Water board have phoned back. They will come and dig up the road on Monday and try not to cut through the electric or gas mains.

 

From the Admin Office collection, Jiffy, I had a job removing all the Dart holes in it though.

 

I managed to bang "heads" with my telescope, two nights ago, in the pitch black of the Observatory and as it weighs around 170lbs it didn't move but I did!!

But I not only got a slight headache but I noticed today that I've managed to slightly crack the left lens of my specs. That's going to be painful to my wallet tomorrow when I visit the Optician as the lenses are Zeise/Kodak glass. So it's going to be another eye test, and new lenses I've very "heavy" on spec frames so I use Titanium type as they withstand my clumsiness better than any others, but on buying and fitting my present specs I bought a spare frame which will go with me tomorrow so that they can make and fit the lenses into them. Why did I buy a spare frame?. Well, the previous specs, also made of titanium, broke at the bridge and when I tried to have the perfectly good lenses into a new frame of the same style they told me they had stopped stocking that type......so that cost me for a new frame again, plus the new lenses So my thinking was buy a spare frame for these present specs and they would only be much more expensive later on.......which was fine, but this time it's the lenses that are broken..........you can't win!!
