I didn't get a photo tonight ladies and gents - by the time we finished it off, it was getting dark. It was somewhat interesting trying to get the roof on and bolted in place; as it bolts up, the spider becomes tensioned, and by hell what a tension! Took me all my strength to match up the bolt holes whilst Mrs C whacked the bolts through then I could champ them up.

I've decided not to use pegs to hold this one down - the pegs didn't really do much on the last gazebo and we have just repointed the patio, so the last thing I want to do is go knocking holes. I have instead made my own guy ropes out of some CCA cable and have lashed it to the soil/drain pipes on the back of the house, and then the other corner is anchored to my grow-barrels - if the wind is strong enough to break those wires and lift that barrel of compost, I reckon a gazebo will be the least of our worries :snork:

That is gonna be a dream to drive! Lovely spread of "pull a house down" torque. What's the engine spec if you don't mind me asking?
The son of an old friend of mine has just pulled 900 bhp out of a big block running a carb and mechanical ignition advance on pump fuel, all as per the rules that he has to comply with. The torque only tops out at 750 though :frown: That's the trouble with rev-monsters :heehee:

Pretty simple spec. A 440 Mopar bored 30 thou over to give 446ci. Eddy AVS 800, and a mechanical cam ground to my specs in "Banburyshire." Added to that just under 1000 hours of my labour getting everything right. A big portion of that time going on the heads.

                On vacuum secondaries!

Just wondering who does that in Banbury?

That is where the gains can be made. We pulled 620 out of a BB Chev using other peoples cast offs. Hours spent just getting the rocker geometry spot on and overlooked items such as that pay off when the lot comes together as a whole.

No, the AVS is based on the old Carter design. It has mechanical secondaries without being a double pumper. I would have preferred a Holley, but they need more underbonnet height than I have because of the choke tower.

Thats just the average of the 4000-4200rpm range. The average between 2800 and 4000 is a little higher.
