    Good day everyone
    @wiseowl a most interesting read:)

@shiney I am glad to hear that Mrs. S. is mobile again. Please don't let her push herself too hard. Don't want to hear about 1 step forward and 2 back !:nonofinger:

We have a sunny day in the 80f's to look forward to. The weather guessers are still saying perhaps some rain but I'm hoping to line dry the bed linens before the rain comes down :)

I have a sales call to make this morning and then I will force myself to practice driving this Cadillac CTS-V.... clear the roads :yikes:

Have a safe day all :)

      Good Evening WW'ers :spinning:

Had a hot and weary day today but the saga began at the beginning of the week. You may (or may not) recall that earlier in the year, one of our neighbours was hoping to socialise his GSD with Ozzy so that Ozzy would help teach him doggy manners by example. His dog is the polar opposite of Oz; Oz being calm, laid back, easy going and generally a very good tempered soul with a heart of gold. His GSC is a lovely boy, but, spent the first year of his life in a flat; never being taken out for walks or socialising with other dogs. A couple of occasions the GSD had decided to snap at Oz. No harm done, just flexing his muscles (like most teens do; he's now 2yrs old so a proper doggy teen) and on those occasions I would growl "Leave it!" and the GSD would turn tale and run. I suppose that means I must be a fearsome person  :heehee:
Well, that hasn't happened for a good few weeks (well, couple of months  ) because, in this hot weather, I don't take Oz out during sunshine hours because of his double coat. I get up and take him out between 4am and 6am when it is cooler and fresher.
We'd arranged to meet on Monday, but, because I had a bad back Mr "M" went to the meet. The GSD was straight back into snap-attack mode. Both his owner and Mr "M" failed to utilise the "Leave it!" command either in time or effectively so Mr "M" brought Oz home. I checked him over. Not apparent problems.

Yesterday, I noticed a bit of matted hair  sponged it and saw a teeny bit of discolouration under the hair. Then I realised: The GSD had struck home and there appeared to be a scratch. Bathed it in sterilised saline water and then had a dilemma on my hands: do I tell the GSD's owner or let it lie? :think3: Thing is, I recall how upset I was when someone accused me of Oz biting them (he hadn't) and I really like the owners and wouldn't want to upset them. We all know how these things can blow up. Well I got my knickers in a bit of twist over it but decided that they needed to know because then they can work with it. But, I really, really didn't want to have that conversation because I didn't want to risk the friendship we've been developing. As it turns out, I needn't have worried because he was totally understanding, but mortified his dog had hurt Oz.
As luck would have it, Oz had his annual Health Check booked for today but it did mean a 45 minute journey in the car, at midday!! When he got up this morning, he was limping a bit and really didn't want to be outside: most unusual. The vet shaved the area and oh my, did I feel bad - a proper, deep, puncture wound, swollen and infected
So, 10 days worth of antibiotics for him then!! That's on top of his annual jabs, anti-Kennel Cough shot and worming tablets; think he's going to feel pretty crud for the next few days.

      CIMG0021.JPG

Thing is, I *know* the GSD isn't a bad dog; he's just not had the right beginnings. The vet thinks we should continue the meetings/outings but now, *knowing* the potential, conducting it accordingly (perfect sense!). Think *that* conversation should have been with the other owner though ;) :heehee:

Felt quite emotionally drained by the time I got home (worried about Oz; worried about the neighbour; worried about his GSD; worried about the journey/heat ...) just forgot to consider myself :slaphead:
      Alright now though

Hmm, now the fun begins trying to get Ozzy to swallow 6 tablet a day for 10 days

      Smiles and vibes xxMxx

You couldn't get me to swallow one tablet a day for ten days! So I feel for Ozzy :grphg:

              Good morning WW'ers :spinning:

Another misty/damp start to the day but a very refreshing one for walking. Only a short walk this morning though, lots to do today (it's youngest son's 21st :wub2: ).

Would you like me to wrap it in ham? Works for Ozzy with his worming tablets :doggieshmooze: :heehee:
Hoping it will work with the antibiotics but they are comparatively mahoosive (yes Shy Knee, I know what you will say: use larger slices of ham :heehee: ).

                    Aloha everyone,

My MOT is going OK. Teeth given a 'good boy' report :pathd:, feet and tootsies doing well and my bad foot has almost healed up, eye test (yesterday) was another :pathd:. Chiropractor next.

The ophthalmologist (I do love using big words :heehee:) was a new one as far as I'm concerned so I did warn him that I'm very pedantic about answering questions so he would need to be specific with his questions :snork:. At the end of the examination he said that I certainly was precise in my answers (such as when he asked me is the vision better with the first lens or the second lens and I answered 'with the second lens only the three dots on the left of the screen are clearer so, in my opinion, the answer is no'). He actually said that I had saved him almost half the time of a normal examination as my answers had been so precise. :rolleyespink: His verdict: "virtually no change in my eyes, no problems with them apart from normal wear and tear so I shall put you down for your next examination in 18 months instead of 12".

I replied by saying "when you say normal wear and tear, do you mean that I'm getting old?" :snorky: and then told him that I want my next test in 12months. :)

@"M" Happy birthday to youngest :Wino: (you must have been a very young mum :)) and :doggieshmooze: for Ozzy.

Wrapping tablets in food wouldn't work for me :dunno: so I have a special mortar and pestle for tablets. I bought it in a Souk in Morocco in the sixties. It's made of brass and is just big enough for one tablet. My medical records say that any drugs must be soluble, liquid or crushable. I can confirm that some tablets taste really awful when crushed

But, I'm in fine fettle, back is good and 'All's Well'

Keep well and have a great day

                      Good Morning,
Shiney you sound almost a new man! I am afraid with Amber I do either have to rough handle her to get the tablets down her throat which is always the last resort or cover them in cream cheese which is the easiest way. Hope everyone else is ok and doing well, stay warm and dry, rain expected, and above all safe and well, God Bless.

                          Good day everyone
@"M" I am quite concerned about this dog bite business. I really think you should say something. It's one thing to nip and another to break skin and that takes a lot of jaw force ... I would not put my pet in a position of that happening again and would explain why, vets, antibiotics and just that this is not tolerable. I had a golden retriever years ago that knew over 100 commands by voice command or hand (she won 2nd in obedience trials) and there is no excuse for allowing this behaviour - at the least, a muzzle should be in place!:paladin:

On a lighter note, it is to be a sunny, warm day and I only have to spend the morning inside.. I found a mattress for my friend that cost $12K :thud: which seems a high price but will do pretty well everything but burp him. It is being delivered this morning so I need to be there to help change out the mattress, take away the old one and the roho topper etc. I am so glad that he will have the best one can find

Then the afternoon is mine. I'm going to put together the ingredients for a casserole and bake it in the sun oven for the afternoon while I am doing a little tidying and weeding. :)

Have a safe day everyone :)

                            Thank you :)
I did write a long post and it may not have been obvious (especially the way I was waffling on  ) but I did end up telling the owners and they were very good about everything (as well as utterly mortified!) because they adore our Oz too. They understand their dog has issues and are doing their best to deal with that; even had a behavioural therapist there on Tuesday (they'd already booked that though). That was just another element in the mix which, for me, made it difficult because I know how hard they are trying to get their dog up to speed.
Gosh you did really well with your dog! Well done :yay: Ozzy achieved his Silver obedience award before we moved here but he would never win any obedience competitions (that'll be the Malamute side of him to blame :heehee: ). When we rehomed him, the rescue centre told us we would *never* be able to let him off the lead because he would not come back to call, so to get him to Silver standard, we thought was pretty good. He does come back to call but mainly because we are good buddies; where I go, he follows.

Hope you enjoy the wonderful afternoon to do as you please with :grphg:
