My first harvest! I might have gone a bit overboard. I've still got tons left on the plants.

The little Currant Sweet Pea toms are gorgeous and the plants have literally thousands of toms left on them but it's a little too rampant for me. It took over half my greenhouse [emoji23]

Picked even more toms today so I borrowed a food dehydrator to make them last a bit longer!

How are your free Tomato Sauce seeds doing folks? Mine are about the size of a small egg and getting Red, can't wait to taste one.

Hands up who has made the same mistake that I just have made?:wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:. I am growing a huge amount of Tomatoes and the greenhouse is stuffed. As I did last month I am gradually removing more and more of the bottom leaves of the Tomato plants to allow for better ripening/airflow, just to be being able to move about in the greenhouse! Could kick myself, I often just snap the leaf branches off but the stalks are getting quite tough so attacked them with the secateurs. What I have just chopped off? a massive truss of Tomatoes, 2 fruits are ripe:)the other 27 fruits are not:frown:. Some which I'll leave in the greenhouse might ripen but the wee ones no chance. I am so flaming cross with myself and they are gorgeous Sungolds which make matters even worse. Luckily I have loads but even so...major idiot!

We have all done this in the past I'm sure. Just tie the truss to some others to ripen.

Looks like Tomato Moth Catterpillars. a few of us had problems with them last year and Googling indicates they've only been so much of a problem in the last few years, and then mainly in polytunnels and greenhouses, so a lack of info on how to control them, other than pick off of an evening when active.

Next year I'm going to fix the likes of Enviromesh over all polytunnel doorways and vents instead of the steel mesh I use at trhe moment to keep birds (and rabbits) out.

                            now,
I've read of some form of biological control, but it's probably/maybe too late now, also probably very expensive, and may not be available to non-commercial growers. Somebody please advise if this is incorrect.

Next year I intend trying the barrier method rather than pulling off.
