Argh! I saw two moths in the greenhouse a couple of evenings ago - they might be these little pests!!

A whole bowl of tomatoes dehydrated! Not much in there but they are so extremely tasty. Loving them chopped up on cheese on toast.

I'm a chef don't understand why you would dehydrate toms cut them into quarters tiny bit of sugar and salt and blush them in a really low oven or on a sunny windowsill until they weep then keep them in a stererlized jar with olive oil and garlic they taste so much better and the oil gets better and better just my thoughts I'm old school when I first started cooking we never had a microwave

Storing the toms in oil, especially with garlic carries a high risk of botulism poisoning, that's why I choose to fully dehydrate them.

I do it because they take up very little space so I can store a few jar fulls for several months. I re-hydrate them over winter a few at a time, in olive oil and/or balsamic vinegar - they are a real treat and can keep us supplied till next years fresh harvest arrives.

They are Floridity and yes they are exceptionally tasty. They won the taste test in an RHS trial some years ago and I've been growing it ever since . It's got a very firm texture and whilst not as sweet as Sungold for example, it has a lovely taste. It is also very prolific and disease resistant.

The pH of the semi-dried tomatoes needs to be below 5.5 to remove the risk of botulism. One issue is that many modern varieties of tomato have been bred to taste sweet through having low level of plant acids. I believe Americans in the central states, where bottling toms is popular, buy citric acid in to lower the pH to just under 5.5 The risk of botulism is very slight, but it's very nasty.

T&M Suncherry, unlike many cherry toms they'll all be OK for eating if the whole lot are left until the complete truss are all ripe.

Reckon this is going to be my biggest tomato this year, it's about 6" diameter and still growing.
