    Hello

Excuse my ignorance but I really am totally new to gardening. Love it though, talk about a stress reliever.

So, I've got some sisyrinchium striatum in my garden and am not sure how to care for them. I've looked on the web and it says to remove the discoloured leaves so I've done that. But then I've found conflicting advice- one website says to remove the dead flowers (not sure if they mean cut off the whole stem or just pick off the dead heads) but another site says to leave them. I don't know what to do.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

Sisyrinchium striatum self seeds prolifically so if you want more plants, leave some to allow the seed to develop. It's not a problem if you have loads of seedlings they are easy enough to pull out.
If you don't want any more, to dead head just cut them down at the base, you will probably find some of the plants are young and healthy, others less so, just completely remove the worst ones.
You can't really go wrong with this plant it will keep coming and is easy to control.

Thank you Scillonian, really helpful advice. I'm glad to hear it's an easy plant. Increases my chances of not killing this one with my incompetence!

It`s also easy to divide when clump gets too big.
