Just wondered if anyone shared my opinion about the amount of post-processing of entries.....to the extent that most of them look quite ridiculous.

Me too....I've no objection to some cropping and other minor alterations, but it would be my guess that some of those entries are composite pictures.

Isn't hard copyies by post and not digital so there's no Exif info so it will be judged by eye and it's not open to professionals, some of them pics look too good, unles i'm bad at taking pictures

Thanks, Woo.......by the nature of the beast (as Jiffy has said) it's difficult to establish if they have been so enhanced. My instincts & not too untrained eye, tell me that several of these and previous years entries are dubious to say the least.
Certainly my own camera club does not permit the removal of a single blade of grass within the rules of its wildlife comps.

I wouldn't know how to enhance a photo, but some of mine don't look real.

That wording would not exclude using a camera's 'scene modes' nor prevent tweaking 'white balance', both of which could be responsible for any of those images (rather than subsequently using computer software enhancements).

I only once bought the country file calendar a few years ago.
At least 50% of the pictures at that time were fake, colour changes, items moved and compilations.

Never bothered to buy it is since.

I hate pictures that are not as taken, and its far too easy to alter things these days.

It annoys me, how when they start the competition, they stress you can use your old box brownie or childs camera, and the winner will get £500 of camera equipment
When they were picking the winners out of thousands, the pro nature phot, says I look for the lens that was used wether it was F4 or shutter speed used to capture the picture,
I feel sure the equipment used to capture the vole with his mixed fruit would have cost a lot more than the prize
Ordinary people would not stand a dickie doo
I vote for Zigs tree shot
