My trusty old Dell PC running XP is ready to be changed. XP is no longer supported and it won't let me update Chrome when requested.
The spec I am looking at is below from Ebuyer @ £343 . Now will 4GB of RAM be ok for my use ? I don't play graphic heavy games or suchlike . Also I have a full version of Microsoft office 2007. Will this run on Windows 10 ?

    TIA

    • 4GB RAM + 128GB SSD

That looks an excellent deal Harry. I would say go with the 4Gb RAM to begin with, it's something that you can easily and fairly cheaply expand afterwards if you find that is a limitation.

The one thing I would seriously consider is getting another Hard Disk, whilst a 128GB SSD is going to be lightening fast it is pretty small. If you have a big photo/video/music collection you're going to need at least 1Tb. Again another HDD is cheap to install afterwards. So it really depends on your useage, if 128Gb is enough then go for it.

    Yes it will be OK.

If your just looking for something to read email, browse the internet, watch films TV shows and listen to music etc. then that's more than enough...

however with just a cursory look at hotukdeals.com I found this PC for £314.26 with free next day delivery

only minuses I can see from the computer you found above is no SSD hard drive so boot up won't be as quick (probably still blazing compared to your current PC though!)

Your copy of Office 2007 should work fine depending on the license? I've never bothered buying it so I'm unsure of the terms but sometimes they are limited to so many installs or 1 PC etc.

Thanks all for the input. :blue thumb:
I do have a USB external HD for back up . I may upgrade that to a 1TB one ( they are so cheap these days ) and use the original one for off site backup.
Anything is quicker than my PC to boot up ! It now takes the best part of 15 minutes.
On prices , I bought the Dell approx 10 years ago for £350. So after 10 years exactly the same price. My PC before that was an Evesham at well over £1000.

The pc I use at work has 4gb of ram. Given that I'm a software developer and routinely run many very resource heavy processes concurrently, I'd say it gets a fair hammering. It copes admirably.
