What's happening to my beans

Just walked into the greenhouse to find this happening to my blue lake beans.. I hope they are not going to die on me

 

Kimberley, I think it may be a watering problem. How wet is the compost?

 

Nothing lasts oit side slugs and snails in masses, tried everything, beer pots, nemotodes, copper tape the lot. I had a beautiful hydrangea cerise coloured flowers and dark green leave's one of my favourites it's been eaten to the ground twice this year .

Here's the problem I have just been outside and I have removed 15 slugs not one under 2 inches long and 3 snails. The one beer pot renew this afternoon has about 5 drunks in there, so to stick the beens out would be just playing Russian Rulette I'm in a no win situation unless anyone can think of anything else..

This morning the large beetroot jar is empty off slugs they've had the best party every..I'm just not winning with the things..I know this is cruel but I'm salting them tonight

 

A lovely suggestion but I own 2 Cocker spaniels who'd be digging and rolling in that for days

 

These blighters don't care about coming out at night 2nd one this morning this is just a baby on..

 

Update three leaves on the one bean plant and about two on the other, not disgarding I have every faith.....Yeh in my dreams

Shiney's ground prep for next year sounds good.
But you may want to consider Climbing French Beans next year also as that variety gets the plants up off the ground.

This year was my first to try this variety and I have had ten plants growing up 6ft canes arranged wig-wam fashion.

The result has been fantastic.
I have been picking a large handful of good beans every day and while I have more than my share of slugs and snail, I haven't lost a single bean to them!
Could be my imagination, but I do feel that this variety cooks and tastes better than my usual dwarf french bean.

Although I do scatter a few handfuls of pellets (when I remember)
