The voice starts to sound a bit impatient if, for example at the end of a journey, you ignore the directions and head for a better place to park, as it will start demanding you do a u turn. If you forget to turn it off before going into the shops, other people in the aisle give you funny looks when the phone in your pocket starts yelling at you to do a u turn.

My built in satnav never criticises my driving :heehee: and never gets impatient :blue thumb:. If I go wrong it doesn't tell me, out loud, to turn round but just recalculates the route.

If you want impatience and rudeness you could always download the John Cleese or Brian Blessed voices for your satnav. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

And here it is " The Upside Down Map " , from 1997 . You can clearly see the Isle of Wight due North of Southampton

My car has sat nav, not that I ever use it (I am a bit of a dinosaur in that respect), so it generally sits in the background doing nothing. It does have traffic alerts though, which is when Mrs Sat Nav chooses to make me "brown me breeks" by announcing a "Caution - traffic congestion" message  - it even happens when the radio is switched off, which makes it a cert that I am going to jump out of my skin.

I never used to use a Sat Nav in a car or van but have taken to using it now when I'm driving on my own as, the roads are so busy, you can't just stop and consult your paper map.

It found a factory in Worthing that would have taken me yonks to find on my own. It took me to within 50 metres of an outlet in Rugby but then it took me 30 minutes trying to find its exact location as no-one around there knew where it was in a swarm of small factories in an industrial estate. And it found an ironworks place in Shropshire that was in the middle of nowhere and the whole area was signless. Someone must have been very busy nicking all the signs. :) So, I'm a late convert to a SatNav (although I've always used GPS without fail on a boat for the last 20 years!!! )

@ARMANDII , I think GB should be positioned W-E as below. Then I would be only 16 miles from the south coast

Then my back garden would face south east.

How can we make it happen? When I was a kid there was an urban myth that if everyone in China jumped at the same time, on landing they'd shift the earth's axis. It was long since discredited but there's no smoke without fire they say, so how about if we try to get everyone in the world to do it?
