If I wanted to send a bundle of willow cuttings to someone, anyone know how I'd go about it?

Most courier firms I've looked at have maximum parcel sizes that I think would be too small.

I'm after sending a bundle of willow big enough to start a willow dome den.

I don't know much about couriers but what is the limit on size and what length do you want to send?

You may be able to use an old mathematical trick to fit the right size. e.g. if they have a limit of 3ft x 4ft you can then fit something 5ft long into it. All you need to do is to put it diagonally into the package. It's using the old schooltime geometry of a 3,4,5 triangle - having one side 3, the other side at right angles as 4 and the Hypotenuse as 5.

Although I'm sure there must be firms that send things big enough. I get my 8ft bean canes delivered (haven't the faintest who the couriers are :noidea:).

From a willow structure suppliers website

Or email half a dozen such suppliers asking which couriers they use.

Using my suggestion above, that would allow you to send something aprox. 1.7m long if laid diagonally in a package 1.2m x 1.2m

    It's magic! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

      Surely willow grows pretty fast.
Do the cutting need to be more than a couple of feet long.

They don't need to be. But it's easier to feel like you've got the makings of a den if it's den shaped. Once established, the willow I have will easily put on 8ft in a year, but from 2ft cuttings you'd be looking at a minimum of a year before you have enough to structure as a den.

I looked at TNT's website. It said I have to phone them to discuss packages over 1.2 metres.
