      I agree, Sian. I must say that initially I thought your theme may prove a tad challenging :scratch:.....However, it does encourage thinking outside the box. :)

        Only a few days to go for the November competition. I must get my finger out :old:

        Here's something to fit with the theme of lines and squares. :)

        With thanks to A.A. Milne :dbgrtmb:

        LINES AND SQUARES

        Whenever I walk in a London street,
        I’m ever so careful to watch my feet;
        And I keep in the squares,
        And the masses of bears,
        Who wait at the corners all ready to eat
        The sillies who tread on the lines of the street,
        Go back to their lairs,
        And I say to them, “Bears,
        Just look how I’m walking in all the squares!”

        And the little bears growl to each other, “He’s mine,
        As soon as he’s silly and steps on a line.”
        And some of the bigger bears try to pretend
        That they came round the corner to look for a friend;
        And they try to pretend that nobody cares
        Whether you walk on the lines or squares.
        But only the sillies believe their talk;
        It’s ever so portant how you walk.
        And it’s ever so jolly to call out, “Bears,
        Just watch me walking in all the squares!”

          Don't know if I'm being a bit stupid here, but not sure I really understand the December theme 'Holiday Spirit Best' :scratch:

          Are we talking about the Christmas holiday? Holidays in general? Holiday drinks? Or can we just interpret it in any way we like?

          @hydrogardener, perhaps you could expand on it a little and give us an idea of what you had in mind. Again, sorry if I'm being obtuse, perhaps it's my age. :old: :heehee:

              Can't help it Shiney, I'm a native East Anglian.

              We're well known for being a bit awkward round these parts, it's in our blood. It all goes back to the invasion of the Angles from Europe some 1500 years ago.

              It's well known that after the Angles arrived over here, the acute ones moved further west in search of a better life, while the more obtuse ones stayed put. :th scifD36:

                I thought it may be because of the stories about the propensity for East Anglian intermarriage :whistle:

                I try to say that Shineyland is not in East Anglia but most government departments seem to insist that we are. :dunno:

                      Good morning @Trunky & @David K just to make sure I will contact @hydrogardener and respectfully ask him his interpretation :smile::blue thumb:

                      This was our friend HydroGardener reply:smile:

                      I was thinking along the lines of Holiday Decorations. I am not sure about your country, however, here many people decorate their houses with lights. Park have elaborate displays of lighting depicting holiday themes, even street lights are decorated. Trees and buildings are also decorated with holiday trimming, greens, bows, snowmen etc.:ThankYou:

                      Plenty to choae from there I am sure either inside or outside;):blue thumb:

                        Maybe Nathan @Webmaster should enter this competition if his Halloween lights are anything to go by. :heehee:

                          Quote from Hydrogardener for Decembers competition posted by @wiseowl.

                          Not wishing to put a spanner in the works but Hydrogardeners quote above is what he was expecting to see in this month's (December) photo competition. The photo's currently displayed are not within the boundary of the theme in my opinion.
