I vacuum pack ours using a battery powered vacuum packer that's also used for packing fish fillets on the beach.

No idea. As the seed used was very expensive I'll be letting all 5 tomatoes of that strain fully ripen for seed saving, so maybe I'll get a taste next year. Or this year in a pasta recipe using what's left after seed saving.

The heaviest tomatoes come from fused blossoms (AKA megablooms) and each lobe can ripen independently, sometimes resulting in the first ripened lobe being rotten before the last lobe is ripe.

It's looking like a good year for Tumbling Toms...

Today's pickings advances the running total to just shy of 5kg from seven plants, and there are still plenty left.

Nothing is ripening for me, pulled half ripe yellow golden sunrise ones off and put them in the window.. its looking pants if I may say so. Doubt much else will ripen without some decent sun, nevermind

one of the side shoots I pulled off and potted up.. really surprised it worked for me :)

Probably erratic watering  They expand too quick if they've been dry and then get a sudden drink.

Westland grow bags reduced to £1 in Wilko at the moment.

Did the Bulgarian tomato pick up and grow on OK? If not I still have loads of seeds from a 2lb one last year, and I'm saving more from this year's crop.

No, after the shelf collapsed (bloomin dormice ) The seedling I thought was the Bulgarian one turned out to be a Welsh Plum Tomato

Oh no further disaster, back in June, after losing my seedlings or indeed not germinating it was panic,
I found plants for sale in Lidl, got them home and realised the label just said tomatze so I do not know what they are or if even they are F1
Fast forward to today, I have prolific the softest sweetest tomatoes I have ever tasted all about 2" across
I am going to take seed, but they may not become true as I do not know what they are
Lidl's replied to me and said they were Tomatoes :-)

Can't imagine a discounter going to the expense of growing F1 tomatoes @Jack McHammocklashing , they'd just go to the cheapest supplier, save some seed and give it a go :)

Extensive Googling reveals the variety of tomato plants sold by Lidl in 6 packs is ....... "Mixed"

P.S. If you post a pic of the fruits (and leaves) there's a chance somebody might ID it.

Suncherry F1, ideal for sweet cherry tomatoes on the vine, just been picking some for our daughter to take back to Uni. She remarked that they "look just like Tesco's Finest", only they also taste much better. The only tomato I've grown where every ripe fruit on the truss are all in perfect eating condition. Sungold may be sweeter but rapidly deteriorate after ripening/picking. (Also dispatching with lots of 'almost' ripe Shirley toms to try and make them last as long as possible, plus spuds, onions, garlic, homemade wine, etc.)

Normally £3.69 for 6 seeds from T&M :yikes:, but watch out for seed offers that can be used in conjunction with £5 vouchers. Or 10 seeds for £3.25 from Mr Fothergills.

P.S. Dog had the couple of split ones, I've been a bit lazy with regular watering recently, trying to reduce to a minimum towards the end of season.
