Hello Huckleberry:sign0016:, Assuming it's not your namesake, perhaps a Cotoneaster? Afraid I couldn't say which species or variety.

Thanks. It was a graft for some fancy thing that never grew so I left it to see what would become of it. It's 6ft tall now. Always wondered what it was.

@noisette47 - The leaves look too large to be a typical Cotoneaster... but Cotoneaster lacteus looks very similar to the pics, so you're probaly spot-on.

My initial thoughts were Viburnum lantanoides or a similar strain of vibernum.

@Silver surfer should be able to nail it to a tee (hopfully not a tree :)). His knowledge of plant varieties is truly astounding.

@Mowerman, a correction if I may. Silver surfer is female. :)

You may certainly make a correction. Thanks for the info :oopss:.

Have never taken notice of the gender mention under people's details (rather stupidly). Had you down as a guy too.... sorry :wallbanging: :)

Hope @Silver surfer isn't offended. She knows more about plants than anybody I've had the fortune of being in correspondence with (i.e. posts on this board).

BTW I'm a transvestite on Saturday nights so if my gender keeps changing, it's because I forgot to turn it back to male after Saturday night posts

P.S. Just joing about the tranny thing. ;)

        Offended...not a bit.
Silver surfer was chosen deliberately to be anonymus..could have been either female or male.
        Thank you for kind comments.

I haven't commented on this post as I really need to see better pics.
How leaves are on a stem..opp or alternate...another pic to show the berries...esp the end away from the stalk.

BTW - great diagnosis of the plant - and apologies if this derails the thread somewhat.

Anonymity on the web is wise and I follow suit... like a ghost hiding in the shadows. No faceinstatwitterbook (or any of that intrusive garbage that enables people to pry on your personal life.). But anyways...

It's pretty obvious that your real name is Mother Nature. Not trying to butter you up; not my style. Just saying your knowledge of all things flaura and fauna is TRULY extraordinary, almost magestical.

            Anyways... back onto the Cotoneasters.

To add to the embarrassment for @Silver surfer I couldn't agree more.

I know a lot of very knowledgeable plant experts but they don't come anywhere near her capabilities :love30: It's not only the very broad knowledge but also the speed of recall. Some of the ID's are made so quickly that I'm still looking at the pictures.

Goodness me...many thanks Mowerman,Sheal and shiney for you extremely generous and kind comments.
I like to think trying to id plants is good brain excercise.
Just hope I don't get Altzeimers!
