You've moved into another ridiculously inhospitable part of the British Isles and I really don't know what i'm gonna do with you

Just hope @Jack McHammocklashing can rescue you with his submarine before the ice sheet engulfs you

All the best for your new home Essex girl and Pete :Wino::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Nahhh @Zigs! :) It's warmer and drier here than the island. I haven't got to wait for the boat to come in for supplies and I've already rediscovered 24 hour supermarket shopping, even though that's very low on my list of priorities.

Added to that, Pete and I love the remoteness and beauty of the Highlands. I love the history of Scotland and have a particular fondness for the Scottish people. Right now we're staying within a few miles of Culloden which I will be making an emotional visit to this coming week.

There's no more chance of Jack getting me into a submarine as there would be getting me into an aeroplane......I'll take my chance with the ice sheet.

Thanks Ziggy from both of us. :)

The way the weather has been going down here you'll soon be invaded by us southerners moving north to get away from the droughts and deserts. :noidea:

Good luck with the house hunting. :grphg:

Thanks Joolz. The Clematis sounds lovely, I just have to find a garden to plant it in. :)

We were let down on a rental midweek but have signed up for another place today and should be moving in next Friday. One big draw back though, it doesn't have a garden, just a gravel drive. Looking on the bright side of that, we should only be in it for the winter months. :)

You don't really need the hassle of looking after a garden in a rental @Sheal, especially in the winter. Hopefully it will serve you as a good base to find something to buy. Is there much on the market up there?

I'd just like to potter outside, the contact with nature if you get my meaning. I think some pots or troughs might be invested in. :)

There's a lot on the market if you've got a bulging purse/wallet. Not so much in the price range we're looking in and the areas we've narrowed it down to so far. We're seriously considering the Lairg area at the moment, but it's a case of what comes up and where. We're patient enough to wait for the right property in the right area. :)

If you feel the need to get our hands in soil and do some weeding just high tail it down a few miles to see me:). There is always amber fluid on offer and if that is not acceptable tea and coffee plus cake depending on whether husband has scoffed it or not. You really do need to visit to inspect your Iris to ensure they aren't being neglected!

Very tempting @silu, thank you. The cake sounds great and I'll fight your other half for it, but I'm teetotal and don't drink tea or coffee either. Yes, I know I'm weird! :heehee:

Make sure the Iris are standing to attention when I get round to visiting. :)
