Mine arrived today and look very good indeed, I also received 2 friendly emails prior to their arrival, keeping me up to date with the delivery and also a tips file and how to get the best from the secateurs ;)

Does anyone not think that the reason that tools are dull coloured and easy to lose is a marketing ploy so you have to buy more when you lose them.

It doesn't fit my form of logic. :dunno:

                      I don't need four rolls.
If it works then I just need a little bit of tape.
If it doesn't work then I don't want the tape.

I suppose I could use the little bit and then flog the rest on ebay :heehee:

Am I too late to give these a go? Been offline for a while with family, dealing with gluts, holidays, etc etc. Good luck anyway with the new business

I've been using my pair for a few days now. Having never owned a pair of bypass secateurs before I am very impressed, I've been taking lots of cuttings for overwintering and they make a much cleaner cut without squashing the stems. I've also been using them to do a lot of general tidying up, pruning and trimming not just green wood but older hard wood too. I like the fact these open fairly wide, I'm sure they easily cut stems bigger than the 22mm which my old anvil secateurs wouldn't open wide enough to get around. So I haven't had to resort to bigger loppers quite so often.

They are well made and have comfortable handles so even after prolonged use my hands don't ache.

Thanks Neil for these ! I have just left a review on Amazon.

I have left a good review as I found them excellent.

Mrs Shiney isn't able to use them as they are too big for her small hands. They need to produce a smaller version as well. She can't hold on to them with the handles open (so had to grip them under tension all the time) and she wasn't able to reach the locking mechanism without using her other hand.

I always prefer using bypass secateurs as they are much better for cutting green wood/stems. As John says, they don't crush the stems like anvil secateurs do.

Anvil are much better for hard/dead wood and the blades don't twist when having to put on a lot of pressure.

So bypass are better for most general work around the garden.

I found them to be wonderful. Darned good and sharp. No crushing. The spring is just right so I don't feel like I've been doing a body builder's grip exercises after using them. I also liked the diameter of the handles and the non slip rubber. I guess I must have pretty big hands as I had no problem with them even given the generous opening of the jaws but perhaps it is because I also have a 7 1/2" finger span - must have got that by destroying songs on the piano :heehee:

In all, these are much better than my Fiskars set... :)
