SHEAL WILL BE "OFF AIR" FOR A WHILE

OMG, KYC, I hadn't even considered that @Sheal. I suppose you are coming from a "foreign" country, that sounds absolutely ridiculous, but strictly speaking...
I know things have got to the pretty crazy stage. My bank manager who I have known for 13 years said he wasn't allowed to witness a document i needed witnessing, bonkers. He had witnessed stuff a few years ago but not allowed to any longer!

 

A foreign country @silu, you'd have thought we were from another planet. I can't believe still how suspicious the UK is of the Isle of Man. We tried to transfer our account from a well known high street bank to the same bank here in Scotland, it couldn't be done. We would have to open a new account here, transfer our money and then close the one on the island. The other suggestion from the bank was to withdraw all our money in cash including the price of the house we sold there and tote it here. Can you believe that! So, we've opened a new account not with our previous bank but a Scottish one. After forty years with them we've kicked them into touch!

It's getting to the point where nobody will witness anything, what do we do then?

KYC? Know your customer! Too right they do! The pieces of paper we've had to produce with our names on to get past 'red tape' has been so frustrating. They wouldn't accept anything from our previous life on the island accept a letter requested from our advocate there. So we've had to wait for things like the council tax demand here to help. The estate agent we've rented our cottage through knows just about everything about us and that bothers me big style!

I've not spotted one yet @Jack McHammocklashing so they must be rare.
