I had a bit of bother with one of my email accounts. I use Outlook, very successfully, but it wasn't able to send or receive the other day. The other accounts were OK. so I went directly to my BT account to check it out. I couldn't access it (but could access the other accounts) and it said that there had been too many failed attempts and for security reasons I needed to change my password.

Not a problem normally except for finding it awkward to get the sequence of how to do it correct. I need to shut down Outlook, change my password on BT and then change my password on Outlook. This is slightly tricky with the timing. I need to start up Outlook and change the password before it tries to send and receive. So I switch off the router, change my password and switch it on again.

Perfect! :nonofinger:. The send and received worked OK but when I tried to access the account directly with BT (to check spam - which I do each day) it took me to Yahoo and not BT (same company) and thanked me for changing services and upgrading. I hadn't upgraded and definitely didn't want to be with Yahoo. Which didn't make any difference anyway as, when I tried to get to my account it just took me back to thanking me for upgrading.

So I go on Live Chat to BT (Good morning India!). The girl was unfailingly polite (annoyingly so). She, naturally, asked if I was the account holder and wanted my name and account number.

Then she asked me to give her my email ID. Not being very computer literate I hadn't the faintest what she was asking me for, so said so.

"It's the username to log into the email."
"Oh, do you mean the email address that I've already given you?"
"Yes" :rolleyespink: Are you able to log in using webmails?"
"What's webmails? I've already told you that I log in through Outlook and/or directly through BT."
"Have you tried changing your browser?"
"Not only have I not changed it, I don't know how and don't wish to! What I want to do is to be log into my account at BT the way I have done for years. Also, what does it mean by 'changing services' and 'upgrading'?"
"Okay, that means that you will be upgraded to BT mail. Many users are upgrading from Yahoo to BT mail."
"But I've always been with BT mail and not Yahoo mail. so are you telling that I'm being downgraded?"
"I know that but sometimes the integration issues occur."
"Let me make myself quite clear. I'm not interested in upgrading, downgrading, changing service or any other changes. I just want it to work the way it has always worked, without any further conversation with you. Just get it done!"
"OK, it should work now,. Please try it."
I've tried it and it's not working and it's now coming up with a notification saying Certificate Error."
"Can you please give me a screen shot of it?"
"No I can't as I haven't the faintest idea what you're asking. Either get it working or put me through to a supervisor."
            "It should work now."
"Thank you, it is now working."
"Thanks for getting in touch today. Please click on 'disconnect' and you will get a survey pop up asking you how I did today."
"I don't think you really want me to answer that survey! Goodbye."

I sympathize Shiney. I'm in a similar boat to yourself regarding computers and most modern technology come to that! Don't these people realise that because of our lack of knowledge we really don't want anything from them except the answer to the question asked and one that makes sense to us. :)

Good morning went to our local chemist yesterday to pick up mrs woos medication, shop full up,20 minute wait and the lady said after looking for it ,oh sorry its not here,I politely said but I ordered it a week ago, more people in the shop, she then said if you go home and ring your surgery I am sure they will sort it out,to which I replied what is that object not 3 feet from me on the counter, she said oh its a phone,I respectfully suggested that she ring my surgery while I was there, but she said but I am busy and there are lots of people waiting behind you,I then asked all the people have they any objections if she phoned up for me,and they all said of course they didn't mind,so the deed was done, result 40 miutes of negotiating job done;)

@wiseowl I sympathise with you :grphg:.

for us in Shineyland things are supposed to be much easier because our doctor's surgery has its own dispensary. So you just hand over your prescription and sit and wait in the reception area.

For repeat prescriptions it is also supposed to be easy by either phoning the order through or emailing it - and they guarantee only a three day turnaround. Mrs Shiney always orders here prescriptions a week in advance, then walks to the village for it. This week, when she got there they asked her to come back the next day as it wasn't ready. She said 'no, I need it now and I put the order in a week ago!' They did it for her in five minutes.

She has told the practice manager in the past that they should change their guarantee on the website if they can't stick to it. The manager happened to be standing in the reception area when she said she wanted it now :heehee: and Mrs Shiney saw her walk straight through to the dispensary ;)

Had similar off a online shop, they sent an email stating I could have 10% off next order, tried to use the code and it expired the day before the email was sent! All corrected now though:)

My moan is.. why does "karma" never seem to kick scumbags in the scrotes? And who lets a 10 year old play with leaf blowers as if they are a motor bikes for the last half hour when they don't have any tree's in their god damn garden? Oh yeah, my neighbours.
