        Frost first thing!
Sun's out now but with a chill in the air.
No sign yet of the light showers forecast!

After yesterdays sunshine it's back to grey gloom today. The sun did try to make an appearance but the gloom smothered it. :doh:The temperature's on the way up again, 9C/48F.

I was up to the early hours [3am] this morning due to the usually clear skies making viewing unbelievably brilliant. When I got up this morning at 8am and went out into the garden, to fill the Bird Feedersm the temperature was 30f, the Bird Bath was frozen solid and there was ice all over the Observatory. The temperature crawled up to 40f but because of the lack of any breeze it felt quite mild although the skies were filled with high hazy cloud. The temperature is now higher at 41f, with cloudy skies, and a pressure reading of 1020mbs:coffee::snorky:

I could write a book about last night, Sheal. It was one of those magical nights where the atmosphere was not turbulent and the Stars were really bright and unwavering and not twinkling. Everything went like a dream and I had Orion to the South of me which is full of Stars and Nebulas [clouds of Stellar dust and gases]. The viewing so unbelievably clear and the scope seem to take me right into the Nebula Clouds which Stars were lighting up as they hid in them and behind them even though those Stars and Clouds are trillions and trillions of miles away.:hate-shocked::love30:. Then there was Betelgeuse, a fiery red Star that you can see with the naked eye and they forecast will explode in a Super Nova.........magic!!:snorky:

It sounds like heaven, forgive the pun, especially this time of year when the skies seem to be much clearer and I bet you lose track of time when you're viewing on a good night. :) Isn't it the observatory's first birthday about now?

Not quite, Sheal, it arrived and was erected on 17 December last year, but it took me about another 6 weeks due to bad weather stopping me putting power into it.:dunno::snorky:

I didn't realise it was that late. I remember it being due in October but took a while to materialise.

Well, it was getting closer and closer to Christmas and I finally sent them an e-mail on the Monday saying that it seemed to me that they weren't going to deliver before then. I then got an e-mail saying they were coming up on the Thursay.......plain coincidence of course!!:dunno::snorky:

It's been brighter today with the sun in and out from behind grey clouds. The temperature was another degree up on yesterday at 10C/50F.

Milder today with a temperature of 52f and an absence of breeze and rain. The cloud has been trundling in from the West relentlessly but has slowly started to thin out but not completely. So the temperature is, at the moment, 42f and the pressure reading is 1008mbs.:coffee::snorky:
