      Hi Jack,

Putting the right figures in would help your case I think.

      6.5 minus 1.5 doesn't equal 4.6.

And, why have you added the " did not " voters onto the no voters ?

I see Donald has started the back peddling.
It was bound to happen, why do people take literally what is said during elections as what is going to happen.
It never has and never will be the truth, on any side.

How does the saying go: a Wise man changes his mind a fool never does.
Found this article which to me sums up his wide range of embracing all people. He just wants America to be great again. He listened to the people. Many of the people who voted for Obama for two years gave up the fight and turned to Trump. And that the democrats need to figure out why, why they did not listen. The polls also show a higher vote of non-white than Romney got.
            anyway.

It seems that, on both sides of the pond, People have decided enough is enough. Politicians need to realise not only who pays their wages but also that they are elected by the people, for the people, to carry out the wishes OF the people.

I really wasn't looking for this but it looks as though my thoughts that Trump reminded me of the "Man who made the Trains run on time" were not isolated.:dunno::heehee:

I wish the USA the best, I really do, Redstar, but anyone who acted and spoke so viciously as he has during the election campaign would never have got a chance in the UK. I have to ask myself would I have him in my house?, as a Boss?,would I let him near any female member of my family?, and the answer is a natural....NO!!
It seems as though those who voted for him are prepared to ignore and turn a blind eye to his behaviour deeming it to be acceptable and perhaps a qualification to be President of the USA. And according to one person in the USA they're also quite prepared for him to go back on all his boasts about doing this and that because.........."well, he's a Business man and nobody believes them or Politicians". Do the Republicans who voted for Trump really think that his threats and promises can and will be forgotten like that of a 3 year old kid screaming and ranting to get his own way??. If so, to be honest, they're kidding themselves.:dunno: People don't trust those who shout, bawl, scream "foul" when they think they're not winning.
In the UK the Press, and I'm not a fan of them, would chew him to bits over all the failed promises and boasts that got him into the White House. If the Leader of the USA wants respect from other countries he has to treat them with respect, and so far he's done a lot of damage abroad and a lot of other Leaders won't forget while having to deal with him for the sake of the World. The USA went into isolation and became insular on several occasions .
especially during the 1930's, I just hope that in all this and the following turmoil they don't do it again.:snorky:

And I'm sure that, up to a point, they may well believe they are. The whole problem lies in the fact that it is subjective.
I get that we all are offered a vote at a periodically appointed time. But, let's be honest, MP's hold regular surgeries so that the "people" can approach them, discuss their personal slant on the issues of the day, yadda-yadda. But, in reality, how many people attend their local council meetings (on a regular basis); attend their MP's surgeries?
Politicians are not mind readers. If "the people" really want their voices heard, then there is a process they can use for that purpose! If "the people" do not use it, then who is to blame? :dunno:
It is all well and good people choosing a forum (not only this one, but one of the multitude) to express their displeasure/frustrations/annoyances/grievances/etc., but just how many of those same people are actually visiting/writing to their MP's and giving voice to those issues directly to their local MP's? :dunno:
I know when I last wrote to my local MP. I know the date I last attended a council meeting. I know the date I last attended a local MP surgery. It would be quite interesting to know when others did the same ;)
I'm not saying that my emails/visits/telephone calls were all acted upon, but, I would like to think that my views were noted and the evidence I provided gave food for thought at the very least. That is the most I can hope for.
