An impossible task, in reality. So: a hollow claim.

From what I have seen, Trump is going to cosy up to Putin, he is going to renege on NATO , he is a sexist, racist egomaniac who only has himself in mind. Even his wife said she tells him he is wrong and then "he does what he likes".

Absolutely, I would be very disappointed to think I had offended either redstar or redwing, and if, by chance, at any time I have then I apologise.

I agree, redstar, but surely it's a blindingly obvious that Obama was and has been in an impossible position because of the fact that a Democrat President has his hands tied due to the fact that Congress and the Senate have been controlled totally by the Republicans during both of his terms:dunno::doh:. That would be, here in the UK, like having a, say, Conservative Prime Minister with the House of Commons having all Labour Mp's and the same situation in the House of Lords.:wallbanging: Everything he has tried to do for the good of the USA has been stymied and impeded by the Republicans........I just don't understand how the American on the street didn't actually see that.:dunno: You can't elect a Leader and then have his every move blocked by a rival party and then blame the Leader.......it just doesn't make sense. I couldn't care less if it had been a Republican President locked out of authority by a Democratic controlled House and Senate.............it's a completely illogical and insane situation.

I think it's this fixation on HC's e-mails that has everyone scratching their heads. Firstly, there appears, according to the FBI, no security risks but she has been reprimanded for carelessness. Secondiy, as I've pointed out before, if you really wanted a reality check and turned over the "stones" in both Political Parties you would find Congressmen and Senators, and staff, on both sides guilty of the same carelessness but probably of higher security breaches..........and we haven't even mentioned the permanent Federal Government Staff, Secret Service, CIA, FBI, Military and "Uncle Tom Cobley and all". The only reason the friends of the USA abroad can see for the fixation on HC is as a diversion from recognising the complete unsuitability of Trump to lead a great Nation, and a kind of revenge while ignoring the fact that it was the Republicans who have stopped any progress that might have been made because the President had the effrontery to be a Democrat, and a case of choosing a dog out of two that both bite your hand because the one you chose barks the loudest......you're still gonna get your hand bit.:hate-shocked::heehee: So as a friend who lives in Ohio said to me when he came to the UK sometime back and I was complaining about things.............he looked me in the eye, took a gulp of my Whisky, grinned and said "Get over it!!"

I don't think, at this stage, that Trump will be a problem for most of the world. In fact I think that played very, very carefully, he could even prove you're be a stabilising factor. Trump has a point about Putin. There is no logical reason for the USA or allies to hate Putin. There's certainly no excuse to poke Russia with a stick quite so often.

But what I do really struggle to comprehend is the apparent bipolar attitude in the general US population, that one candidate is pure evil incarnate, while the other is a messenger direct from god.

I think Trump is not as bad as many many politicians. I still think he is a knob. I think Clinton is a slimey creep, trying in vain to conceal a nasty side. She too is a knob. The people of the USA exercised their democratic right to choose their leader. It's the same as when we chose Cameron over Milliband. Cameron won. I think even among those that voted for him you'd struggle to find many that elevated him to god status or declared Ed to be Satan.

In summary then. Trump is probably no worse and possibly a bit better than Clinton. That doesn't change the simple fact that he is in fact a knob.

I think you are forgetting the fact that he doesn't even have to take that ONE dollar, redstar, as he's taken enough hundreds of millions of dollars via his repeated tax evasion.:snorky: Let's be realistic, Trump is proposing a Mussolini style One Trillion Dollar infrastructure plan that will also throw the USA into even more debt and I'm absolutely sure that none of his business "interests" will benefit.

Precisely. Voting in another Democrat would have achieved nothing. The people I have talked to during my many visits across the border want change. I think this Trump bashing is getting a bit deep.

Since he won he has toned down from election battle level and started trying to assemble intelligent and seasoned advisors

              Just MHO. :)

And how many of those advisors have already resigned? Apparently, the only two he has left is one of his daughters and his son in law.

Have you forgotten of the cases of the deliberately started wars in Ukraine, the missiles supplied by Putin to the Russian supported rebels and the shooting down of Malaysia flight MH17 killing 283 passengers of which 80 were children, clueless:snorky:. The unfired missiles were then taken back into Russia, to take and divert the focus of the West from his military annexation of the Crimea Russia, under Putin, is in a expansionist mood and, if you look back over time, isn't noted for it's freedom of liberty and speech politics.:dunno::doh::scratch:

And what about what he's doing in Syria now.

I can't believe that people think the World will be a safer place with Trump cosying up to Putin.

I'm just glad I'll never be called up to fight in WWW III .

But isn't it an insane system where a country elects a President to do a job and yet a rival political party can block his every move, Lori.

I would regard it as "bashing" if what has been said about Trump was untrue but, to be honest, all that has happened is consistency in what has been said. I can't see the point of pointing out the dangers of a situation and then later, because you've had to repeat and underline it all, that we should sigh, shrug our shoulders, and say "Oh, well, maybe things will be okay", when we know in our gut that ain't gonna be so.:dunno::heehee:

Would that be the civil war started when a group of pro EU Ukrainians decided to bypass democracy and violently overthrow their elected pro Russian government?

I somehow think you've somehow forgotten that it was President Viktor Yanukovych who was pro Russian not his parliament. There was a parliamentary vote to shift many of his Presidential powers back to Parliament which was basically the equivalent of the UK Parliament asking for a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister, and the Military abandoned him, and he ran over the border to Russia. Every move after that was the Russians arming Rebels, supplying troops by invading into Ukraine, and supplying SAM missiles to shoot down a civilian plane killing those 283 people I mentioned earlier. As I said the support to the pro Russian opposition was done so to take the political heat of Putin's invasion of the Crimea.:dunno::snorky:
