I cooked all day yesterday. I made sweet potato casserole, hash brown potato casserole, cream corn casserole, 2 pound cakes, (served with hot blueberry topping) 2 pumpkin pies, a strawberry jello desert and had already made a fruitcake last week. I also boiled 21 eggs and made deviled eggs. This morning I baked a ham from a pig that we raised and glazed it with apple juice and maple syrup. I made home made eggnog from my great grandmother's recipe. My son came in last night. He is a crane operator and works all over the country, his job ended and it is so nice to have him for the holiday.

My son and my husband hitched up the flatbed trailer and put a double row of square hay bales down the middle for the hay ride. Our neighbor's 12 year old boy asked "what's a hay ride?" I hugged him and said that's why we're having a hay ride, every kid ought to go on a hay ride!

Our son-in-law cooked the turkey and dressing and brought iced tea. Their neighbors brought appetizers. There was so much food! The day was sunny and cool. Children ran all over the place, playing in the horse trailer and having fun. We ate until we hurt, then went on the hay ride. There is a 1,000 acre ranch behind us, so we went around it. The kids sang and laughed, they loved it. My husband followed behind the trailer with his emergency flashers on. He turned up his radio and was bouncing up and down in the seat of his truck "dancing" to the music-the kids laughed at him.

Not too many dishes to clean up, I used paper plates and cups! We wound up with 18 people, sure had room and food for more! Lots of leftovers if ya'll want to hop that plane and come on over!

Aww, Bay, sounds like all your hard work paid off and everyone had a memorable time; the hay ride sounds wonderful and I have an image in my minds eye of your husband bouncing in his vehicle to the music :heehee:

Hope you took lots of photos ... I know I would enjoy seeing one or two if you felt like posting them on here :)
