@silu you've written my post word for word! :) Mr S and I jumped off the Christmas bandwagon at least ten years ago, fed up with the stress and cost. I'm not a religious person but the whole meaning of Christmas has been forgotten. How many of the greedy spend thrift population of today will give any thought to what Christmas should be about! Meanwhile we will be doing what we always do, a humble picnic in the car (not having bought up the supermarket), whatever the temperature, in a beauty spot chosen on the spur of the moment. This is not to escape the rubbish on television either, that went out the door almost six years ago! Why pay out good money for the BBC's television licence just to watch rubbish on every station.

@silu Well said about the museums. I would be inclined to copy and paste what you have written and send it to the museums. :blue thumb:

@silu, I felt the same way about my visit to Kew last week. There were a lot of uncontrolled children and it is becoming more of a theme Park so much so that I don't think I'll go there again.

I wouldn't have thought Kew would have held much attraction for small children? Sorry @strongylodon that your visit wasn't enjoyable. Maybe we should run riot in play parks and see how small children like their playgrounds being taken over by a squad of unruly rubbish dropping old codgers:)

I'm a firm supporter of the Post Office as I think there's a need for local Post Offices in towns and villages, although the trend seems to be of them disappearing into Supermarkets etc rather than where they're needed. However, my support got a little shaky this week when a trackable parcel was posted to me from Brecon to me [120 miles] on Tuesday. I expected it the next day [yeah, right] but no show. So I've been waiting while using the Post Office software to track the parcel but it is useless as all it has said is "in progress", not where it is etc:doh: So I waited until today for the morning post and, of course, it wasn't in it:dunno: And then I waited until 1pm just in case there was a late delivery. That would be unusual as they combine parcels and mail into the one morning delivery....nope, it didn't happen. So I visited the local Post Office Sorting Office to enquire if they knew more than me.......nope. They could only get the same information from their software that I had, the parcel had left Brecon and that was that. They did say that it might take up to another 3 working days for the parcel to arrive:gaah: So I drove back home........to find a "Sorry we missed you" note telling me I could pick up the parcel from the place I'd just visited.....tomorrow!:rolleyespink::mute::doh::gaah::dunno::whistle::heehee::coffee:

Couriers aren't much better Armandii. I waited eight days for a parcel that should have taken a maximum of three and having checked the couriers tracking, the last entry was the 19th of this month saying it was going to be delivered on that day. Yesterday I emailed the company that had sent the parcel from whom I've had no reply as yet. Said parcel turned up this evening, the ninth day! I've had problems with the same courier in the past and know they haven't got a reliable service for deliveries all over the country.
