What jobs has everyone got planned?

A chip shop is a 'Fish and Chip Shop'. Commonly called a chip shop or a chippy. It sells mainly fried fish and chips (what you call 'fries'). Here in the UK, what you know as chips are called crisps.

Fish and chips is a traditional meal that has been here for a few centuries. Up until the 'Health and Safety' people banned it, we used to have the fish and chips served in newspaper (ideal way of recycling) as the food is mainly 'take out'.








Just to show that it's not only greedy fat men that eat it we have a picture to show equality

 

Here in the UK French Fries are slightly different from chips. Chips are the nice chunky ones you can see in the picture above whereas French Fries are very thin ones (like the McDonalds ones).

Of course, in France they aren't called French Fries . Their common name there is Pommes Frites or just Frites.

It's traditional for us to eat fish and chips with our fingers but, nowadays, they provide those stupid wooden forks that you can see in the picture. They seem to taste better when eaten with your my fingers.

 

The smell of vinegar wafting from the Chip Shop always makes me hungry.

 

Well, there's Cod, Haddock, is the main fish used here, Bay, but there are other fish we use such as, Pollock, Coal Fish, Coley, Plaice, Skate and Ray, and what is sometimes referred to as Rock Salmon [which is Dog Fish or Huss]. My level of a Connoisseur of food is "Human Dustbin" I quite like Dog Fish or Huss as they have just a central bone without masses of tiny thin bones hiding in the flesh.
