Apart from gardening, I have several other hobbies. One of these is woodworking. I thought that I would share a project that I have been working on over the past few weeks. Its a writing desk for a guest bedroom. As will be seen, its a rather unusual one...

First thing was to turn up a number of legs in the lathe...

    IMG_4456.JPG

When these were finished, the other parts required were cut and shaped...

    IMG_4475.JPG

Assembly began shortly after that. First, the end "pillars."

    IMG_4482.JPG

As can be seen, one of them is rather odd in the fact that it only has three legs. Finally, the centre section was assembled, and added. This completed the construction.

The whole piece is now on my workshop floor, awaiting a coat of finish.

    Hope you all like it!

@fat controller Theres nothing special about it, its a simple piece that anyone on here could make with a few tools. "The car" on the other hand....:)

It is special to me, I assure you - if that were me, my best effort would be a 2x2 framework screwed together and a slab of MDF on the top

And yes, "the car"..... "THE car".... you know, once it is all completed, if you need someone to look after it for you, I would be more than willing :coffee:

You can't post videos directly, but you can host them on the likes of YouTube or even Photobucket

My old woodwork teacher would have found the smallest mistake I might have made, called me "soft mick" and clipped me over the ear...He was the best teacher that I have ever had!

I didn't have a woodwork teacher unfortunately, girls weren't allowed in the male domain when I was at school. :doh:I settled for the art room instead. :)

Girls at school? :hate-shocked: Didn't happen in my day :nonofinger: Our girls school was even in a different borough in London. We met the girls only once a year. It was at the 5th form/6th form dance and was chaperoned by all the teachers lining the walls of the hall. No body contact allowed :cry3:

It caused permanent psychological damage  and made me the anti-social brute that I am now :heehee:
